There is another element to consider - if I remember rightly, weren't further instalments due on players like Jerome and McSheffrey if Blues were promoted? That will have come out of this years transfer budget, you can bet. Also - further instalments on the likes of Kapo etc will become payable out of next seasons transfer budget, I guess, so the spend this summer will be on the lower side rather than the £14million-ish quoted earlier. |

Following from this, I wrote a few things about the Derby Liverpool game earlier, you may find them interesting you may find them unutterably dull.... (He is an Everton fan) ME--I personally think this is an utter joke. It's just another example of money ruining the game. What chance does a team like Derby have? Their fans do not deserve this, £70M ish started for Liverpool I think yesterday and I bet their wages are half that again. Derby's team is probably a tenth of that, and look what happens 6-0 and nobody is surprised. This league is just a matter of got the money you will do well. Not got the money- sod you then nobody cares anyway. Rediculous. Response--Liverpool got their money through success. Through success becomes world-wide recognition and the American's saw a business that was on the rise. I certaintly can't blame Liverpool. Nor do I but the success has brought them invincibility, along with Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea. They won't be relegated not even close. And the way hansen last night talked about how dreadful Derby were, put some context with it. It just makes me wonder what's the point in supporting Birmingham (which I always will) because unless we spend near enough £100M (think how much that is) we won't win anything[/B] It's about breaking the monopoly on a permanent basis. We have done it once with a small amount of funds. Spurs looked the more likely to do it on a permanent basis but laterly don't. Someone will break it and permanently. It's just a case of being patient. I understand what you're saying but Spurs have spent big big money, you have spent more than we could, the wages are unbelievable a factor ignored mostly. I just know what it feels like, the hurt from being crushed like that. losing 7-0 to them two years ago. It really hurts, and the fans don't deserve that. I saw a kid coming home from the game yesterday full Derby kit with tears in his eyes and had clearly been crying alot before then. And it's horrible to see. I know it was a big defeat but surely they didnt expect to go to Anfield and come away with a smile on your face. Also, I know what it is like to lose 7-0 also. But I cam out of the Highbury with a huge smile on my face. No but you hope to compete give them a game of it. Derby fans know they will be relegated, but they don't give a rubbish cos they are proud of their team. Proud of being premoted. And thats something the premiership is lacking- pride. |
