After quite a miserable weekend, with little transfers, a terrible defeat and viler beating Chelsea - i thought i might try to see where we are and compare with where we should be. Looking at our 5 games, i put what points we need to be getting to stay in the division (reasonably) and what we did get. I think we need to expect to win at least half of our home games and about 4 away. Chelsea (a) Should get: 0 , Got: 0 Sunderland (h) Should get: 3 , Got: 1 West Ham (h) Should get: 1, Got: 0 Derby (a) Should get 3, Got: 3 Mid'boro (a) Should get: 1, Got: 0 So out of 8 points we should get, we have 4. I really do think the points I have said we should get are reasonable. This leaves us on -4 to where we should be. To compare with Sunderland. Spurs (h) Should get: 1, Got: 3 Blues (a) Should get: 1 , Got: 1 Wigan (a) Should get: 1, Got: 0 Liverpool (h) Should get: 0, Got: 0 Man U (a) Should get: 0, Got:0 So i would say they would expect about 3 from those fairly tough fixtures, but they managed 4. I think on the face of it, they have had the harder fixtures. At home, we have played our relegation rivals, and a top half team - they have played a UEFA cup team and a title contender. I would say the only game we probably wouldnt expect anything from would be Chelsea. Now, obviously, we arent always gonna get what we hope from the game. But when that happens, you have got to also get more from a game you expect less from. If you look ahead, based on what we would reasonable expect we get: Bolton (h) 3 points Liverpool (a) 0 points Man U (h) 0 points Blackburn (a) 1 point Man City (a) 0 points So that would be about 4. Really I think we need to pull something out of the bag in one of the away games, either City or Blackburn. And we must win our home game to Bolton. I think anything less than 4 points from these games is disaster, even with 4, that would give us 8 points from 10 games - relegation form, so we need something somewhere. |
