I am not interested in our past , i want a positive change for our future , past and current Boards have held this club back, i believe IF Carson Yeung fulfils his promises then we will have a bright future. We can slag Randy and the boys off as much as we like but it seems to me that , they will not rip fans off like ours do, they do not makde BS promises to their fans and above all they have a VISION and comittment, they do not alienate fans , they do not charge the earth for season tickets etc etc So as i say i hope CY is an honourable man and if he has the same Vision as RL then we will be fine then i woke up  |

Just found this on the footymad site, it sort of alludes to the same thing....... We are in a funny position at the moment where it seems the current board are no longer interested in getting behind the club to drive it forward in fact their silence is deafening. Apart from some sniping at the supporters there has been no rousing speeches to rally the troops and get the fans bubbling with enthusiasm. So where does that leave the club? Bruce wasn't backed in the transfer market and has probably done well to bring in who he has. The fans who were carried along on the crest of a wave with the promise from Sully that he would go nowhere until we had equalled or bettered our best ever position seems to have evapourated. We can't allow doom and gloom to take over especially at this point in the season and with a massive game against Bolton looming we must all get down to St.Andrews and really raise the roof. Just because the current board has given up we must not. |

The club isn't dying, it just isn't going anywhere. Our supporters are pretty optimistic, which is a good thing, especially after being touted for Europe 2 years ago. The fact is, under the current manager and board, we're never going to be more than a bottom 6 team. Yes we made it 10th once, but i don't think we could ever get back to being consistently 12th, 11th, 10th, 9th etc... We have been up and down oer the past 3 or 4 years, and we should act before the club stagnates, in the Championship, as we can't keep getting promoted if we do keep getting relegated. We need Yeung and a new manager to push us onto that higher level of being an established team. Up the Blues **thumbup |

im sitting here reading all the doom and gloom threads and tbh i find it hard to disagree with most of them. imo whats wrong is this. the board dont have/wont spend the money to give us a chance (its up to them because after all they own the club ,we dont ! ) as has been said we know which 4 or 5 clubs will win everything. the price to watch the other 16 or so clubs is just too much to watch cannon fodder. the board realise,,we realise,,we just can't compeat so why throw good money at it ? (ours as well as the boards) thats whats happening so untill such time as manure/the bottom/liverpool and chelski go off to the europian prem league (as is no doubt soon to be ) then the english prem is a busted flush for any of the other teams in it. roll on next season and some good ccc competition |

I agree with the fact that we are not spending enough to compete properly, but I disagree about the cause. The cause is the astronomical monies that are in the game, that are backed by very shrewd investors, who will only allow their monies to go on near certainties for glory, therefore more and more money is going in the direction of the top clubs, making them invulnerable to very severe performance loss, and at the same time very very marketable so that the merchandising and media cash flows are even stronger. We spend a lot of money in anyone’s book, obscene amounts compared to how most businesses run their finances, it just isn't as large as the fashionable clubs who attract the richest investments. I don't see the situation getting better, just a lot worse. |

It will be interesting how much Flavio Briartore and the F1 gnome put into QPR and how much is put in at Wolves and Blackburn none of these are fashionable |

Wolves and Blackburn were funded by men who adored the club and for whom the investment was a labour of love. As Sullivan has pointed out multiple times, there hasn't been a line of wealthy Bluenoses queuing up to do a similar thing. But yes, the F1 money at QPR will be very interesting to watch. |

Thats because i don't think there is a Blues fan rich enough to buy the club and run it, Sullivan is worth nearly 600 million and he didn't take over on his own either. |

Tell you what, let's stick Ricky Otto and Kevin Francis upfront and then we'll see who wants to moan. Go support someone else if you aren't prepared to follow this club. I'm not a fan of the manager but until he's sacked he's got my support, as have all the players. |

On the pitch : things have been much much worse and we need to give the team time to gel. Off the pich : 14 years of Sully, the Golds and St.Karren have ripped the heart and soul out of our club. |

The underlying problem of the malaise is the board. They don't care anymore and haven't done for a couple of years ago. If change is needed, it is needed there. |

Been thinking bout the attendances lately, and it struck me as something in common that we seem to have with Middlesborough....... If I was not inclined to renew my ticket (many have not) though I have done. Where would I go to see the Blues? Well I think many of you know where you can get to watch an away game on the box.. Nice boozer (beer a bit dodgy) on the corner of Green Lane, many down Digbeth and as far a field as a nice Green Man in Coleshill. It's not just away games that you can watch in a pub now, all home games are shown. Great for the pub trade, but not so much for our club....... Maybe there is a link to our poor attendances allied with the apathy that seems to have inflicted the support for Bruce andthe board which added together is draining our club of the once 'boisterous' atmosphere of old. What can be done? Prices certainly need to be reviewed, as wit hany competitor a business has to react to the challenge. In this I feel Blues have been slow. They are now tied in their ability to give serious match day concessions in light of the season ticket prices already paid out. BLues need to bite the bullet and give the fans some real impetus to get back to the ground and support the players (players are another subject). I can't help feeling that this current state is just going to get worse before it gets better. I remember Italian football almost going to the wall due to high wages and ticket pricing. That league used to be the 'best in the world' and look at how it is only now recovering. We will see..........in the meantime 'up the Blues!' :( |

As others have said - our club is not dying. It wasn't dying when we lost at home to Altringham or Kidderminster in the same way that we weren't beating the world when we beat Arsenal and Liverpool a few seasons ago. The only time our club has come close to dying (in recent times) is during the Kumar reign (and for everyone who slags off our current board remember they rescued us). IMO football clubs fall into one of four categories these days: 1: Super rich, high profile, darlings of Sky TV, gauranteed huge support - e.g. Man Utd, Chelski, Liverpool etc. 2: One horse town clubs with nowt else to do - e.g. Newcastle, Sunderland 3: Small clubs, little money, little ambition, dedicated but small following - e.g. about 60-70 of the 92 league teams. 4: Clubs that have some ambition, some money but not enough to really compete - e.g Blues. I don't think in the foreseeable future there will be another Blackburn winning the premier league. I don't even think you'll see a team like that getting into the champions league. And here's what I'm getting at (at last) ... Lots of us have realised that. I've got 500 channels of cr*p on the 24/7 TV; 200 radio stations; pubs and shops that open 24/7; kids that have the options to do hundreds of different things (all of which require some input from myself); work which wants me to be there 24/7, etc etc. I love the Blues - have done for 40+ years - but there's other things in my life which are important. I'm fed up having the match decided by some play acting prima donna who earns more in an hour than I do in a year, or by an official who wants the limelight 'cos he's on telly. I'm fed up with players not being able to make a tackle without getting a card, or a manager who can see absolutely everything his team didn't get given but nothing that his team could possibly have done wrong. I'm fed up with being expected to pay more to watch one match than I used to pay for a season ticket (and then being criticised by a multi-millionaire for not being there). No - my club's not dying - but IMO the game is dying and life is moving on, and with the exception of those clubs in group 1 football is in danger of being left behind. Whinge over - thank you and goodnight. PS: See you at the next game! |

football is evolving imo tis like america - every businessman knows there is money to be made concerning soccer in america - how else would they pay beckham hundred million for a few yrs of his life how many millionaires buy football clubs nowadays and dont even live in this country - they know they can make money from it otherwise they would not be interested football = money nowadays 15 years ago no1 cared how much money these players were earning or the price of a ticket - back then a player left cos the club wanted to sell and it was very rare for a player to ask to move on - nowadays it is the complete opposite it is very very sad - football use to be a supporters game now it is about marketing and commerical enterprise footballers wanted to play for their country and nowadays they rather earn the money who was that footballer who said if given the chance "would he have an england cap or a 5 million pound contract" , he didnt choose to play for england ! |
