Our board quite simply has a habit of signing players that other teams don't want or other teams don't rate.
If you look at teams trying to be a bit progressive like Man City who lets face it, have been in the doledrums for a while, they get a new owner and then hire a top class manager and then proceed to sign some quality talent.

Quality why? cos they happen to be good 1st team players at their clubs, not rejects not cheapo options. This new board has gotta realise that shopping at Aldi will get a club nowhere, but a trip to Marks and Sparks (we can't shop at Harrods just yet!!!) or any other nice retail establishment will be a more fruitful enterprise.

I'll give you a few examples...

Man City sign Elano,Bianchi and Corluka, all for good money and players that were wanted and valued at their previous clubs.

We sign with the greatest of respect Liam Ridgewell, Olivier Kapo ,Stuart Parnaby, Franck Queudrue...i could go on!!!

But you see what im getting at. its fine buying these players to use in a rotational squad in case of injuries or suspensions,or if you wanna be a yo-yo club but these days you have got to spend big money if you wish to achieve or if not then be prepared to linger and dangle close to the despair of Chumpionship football time and time and time again.

My blame lies with our spectacularly unspectacular board and owners!!!

IF YOU'VE GOT GOOD PLAYERS THEN YOU WIN FOOTBALL MATCHES...ITS QUITE A SIMPLE PHILOSOPHY-SPECULATE TO ACCUMULATE-SPEND MONEY TO MAKE MONEY!!!

I SOMETIMES WONDER WHY WE KNOCK OUR GREAT RIVALS, IF WE LOOK DEEP DOWN WE HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT WE HAVE NO REAL HISTORY TO SPEAK OF BUT HERES AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE SOME HISTORY THAT WE CAN ALL BE PROUD OF. GRASP THIS OPPORTUNITY DON'T LOSE IT!!!

ALSO LADS WHEN YOU PLAY, PLAY WITH PASSION, ID DIE FOR THAT SHIRT!!!!!!!KRO!!!!!!!

born blue will die a blue!!!!!!

Actually I think Levante wanted to make Kapo's deal permanent/take him on loan again but we offered more for him and he chose English football over Spanish.

We got De Ridder over Ajax.

Oubinja (or however you spell it) over Benfica because we offered a deal that was a loan with a view to make a permanent move.

I think we did ok in the transfer window.

But we're close to getting a new owner, perhaps if he splashes the cash a bit in January if he's taken over by then, people will start being a bit more positive.

we refused to pay fulham 3.5 million for knight - so the filth buy him and he contributes towards getting 3 points of chelsea - i think the club would quite happily pay 3 million for every game won in this division but they dont like gambling with money and rather buy players on the cheap so they dont lose out when it all goes pear shaped

we sold 16 million worth of players prior to being relegated and brought in loan players - recipe for relegation imo

Who the hell do people think we are?

Reality check; we are a newly promoted club - i.e, favourites for the drop.

Because of this, we are perceived as a risk. If you were a 24 yr old footballer you want to play in the Prem and go where a) they'll pay well, and b ) will still be in the prem to pay you well next year! Dunn, Heskey or Pennant wouldn't have come to us during our first season for that very reason.

Rightly or wrongly, as a newly promoted club we will very often end up with the players the 17 established clubs don't want.

You have Bruce to thank and a board that is willing to pay decent wages that we have got the 12 or so players that we have.

Bruce in, Bruce out, who gives a flying toss at the end of the day - these are the realities that new Prem clubs are faced with.

I still believe of the promoted clubs we stand the best chance of staying up - we have bought some excellent players. I couldn't believe the performance against Chelsea. And that's without seeing fully what De Ridder has to offer.

:applause: Some people need to realise this.
We are a newly promoted team. We are expected to do badly and so we cannot compare ourselves to Man City. Big manager, big club, big infrasctucture. Of course they can spend big and players will go there. They are an established prem team so they can splash the cash. We arent an established prem team.

Surely one of the points raised is that according to the papers, we've spent £7.5m since promotion, net, after sales. 2nd lowest spenders in the league. Says it all really, no ambition to stay up and keep the £50m a year TV money when a new owner would benefit most from it. No ambition from the board, means no ambition from the players, through to supporters, and then lower gates.

Think big = get big. Ask Pompey!!!

Two points here - firstly many people on here were celebrating when Knight went to vile.

Secondly, the 16 million pounds was raised after relegation not prior to it.
