sorry for this but i was just wondering; a lot of supporters think that Steve Bruce has lost his way with the running of the team, tactics, formations etc and not just this season but for many months now.

personally i think i'd like to see him in charge of a team under Carsen Yeung and not Sulky as i feel the former wants a winning club who challenge for silverware as opposed to challenging for mediocrity like we are right now. i hope i'm right.

the problem is that i'm not sure we'll be in a strong enough position to survive under Bruce if the sales of the club doesn't go throught for a few months yet.

well, here's to what i was wondering - have seen many Bruce out posts but just wondered who you guys thought would make a good replacement. and let's have serious debate here, we're not going to get Ranieri or Allerdyce etc, let's stay realistic in our thoughts....

I doubt we would be able to tempt anyone currently employed by a Premiership side. We could maybe go after someone currently with one of the Championship sides, someone like Nigel Adkins at Scunthorpe or someone else young and ambitious. Aidy Boothroyd has the potential but did look a bit out of his depth last season, and Adkins and the like are totally unproven, so it is a big risk.

Guys currently out of work make a depressing list. Warnock, O'Leary, Souness, no thanks.

Paul Jewell could be another possible candidate if he decides he wishes to return to management soon. I believe he said he would take six months off back in May which would put him in contention around November. He may prefer a smaller club though, and not the immediate pressure of another relegation battle.

At the moment I'm still behind Bruce. I said I'd give it ten games and see where we were. We're halfway into that period now and although the points on the board have not been outstanding, there have been a number of positives in some of the performances. Not all, but some.

I think most foreign chairmans new to a club will want silverware but realise after watching them play, "maybe not" lol. As a replacement? Im not 100% sure, but maybe an ex player again with the mentality of Roy Keane, gets the players fired up and is also quite a good tactician.

ultimately franscar ten games or not the decision to relieve Bruce of his duties is not ours (fortunately) so it matters not what the results are to an extent, more the thoughts of the owners and i doubt that Sullivan & Co will want to sack Bruce at this delicate stage of their dealings with Yeung.

of the current names you mention, i agree , they do make depressing reading. what about Keegan? i've never been a fan of his, if i'm honest, but he is used to being thrown into the melting pot and, apart from England, has done quite well - especially at Newcastle.

the other guy i like is Stuart Pearce, who was at Blues for the Sunderland game but let's not start rumours - am sure he was only here in his capacity as England U21 coach!

The problem with Keegan is that he's done well until the pressure hits. With Fulham and Man. City he rode the crest of a wave, but when Man. City hit the upper limit of their abilities, he was off like a shot. He did well at Newcastle yes, but that was over a decade ago now, and in a completely different atmosphere where it was possible for clubs to come up from the second division and really make a good fist of competing in the top league. I think he's been out of the game too long now, and he doesn't seem to have shown any interest in going back into management outside of whispers in the press.

Pearce I like as a motivator, he's the perfect type of coach to instill some pride and passion into his players, but his dealings in the transfer market at Man. City were fairly appalling. I reckon the international setup is right for him, where he doesn't have to worry so much about identifying transfer targets and agreeing fees and whatnot, and he can just concentrate on motivating a group of players and boosting their interest in the national team.

can't disagree with your comments about Keegan, although i think we'd give our right arm to be a Man C's and Fulham's level right now!

perhaps it could be argued that Pearce was restricted at Man C as Bruce is here. he was given a fraction in 2yrs of what Sven's been given in a few months! did he not identify Micah Richards, said to be one of the country's best young prospects!

perhaps Pearce with a more expereinced manager/advisor might be good.
