Should we not sign this guy before someone else does? He as an history and hes been watched so why not? How long do you think we should watch him before doing the deal? |

Would you all be saying the same things if we sign him and he turns about to be just another freeloader? Let's face it, if he was half the player he once reputedly was he'd have gone somewhere else by now. |

I agree lets give the lad a chance. He is FREE!! yes we have to pay wages obviously but he could turn out to have that vital experience that we need. sign him up for 2 years and If he's no good in a years time then we could sell him and earn a nice tidy profit from it too |

i don't mind if we donm't sign him; if SB and team do not think he's good enough then why should we sign him - the only objection i really have is that it's now too bloody late to sign anyone else and goals are paramount for us (again). i cannot believe we are going into the season with the strikeforce we have. ok so Forssell looked good in pre-season but his hard work has hardly been matched with goals. Jerome looks good but i still wonder if he has it in him to score 15 goals this season, or any season, the same with O'Connor. and Vine, well he's not even getting a run out. just where do the club think the goals are going to come from? yet another season where we have been promised we will compete in all sections of the field and yet another season where we are playing players out of position or we are threadbare by September! god help us if we get any injuries.... |

i thought of that but if the club think he's got nothing to offer then what's the use of playing him... they may as well play one of us on the same deal. i think the biggest issue is that they announced he was here on trial but had absolutely no intention of bringing in a striker before deadline day! the more i see the more i think Mido was probably used to sell tickets, sorry but that's what i think. |

i can see why you think that im not convinced i think blues were always struggling when it became clear they wanted to SELL him rather than LOAN him we dangled 6 million but then were no where near when it came to terms !! we cannot or will not compete against teams such as boro i fear for us .. i really do - we look paper thin - especially UP FRONT its scary im sure i will be accused of being a negative viler fan - but ill back my judgement and i dont give a flying shiete !! |

yep, when you think we have merely taken our Championship strike force, less Bentner and DJC and just O'Connor in exchange, it is scary. Whilst I've no idea what shape Kallon is in, given where we are at now, and given his pedigree, it's suprising to think he wouldn't be better than no option at all. |

the difficulty is that this subject can't be debated effectively unless you look at recent history and when you do that people on here don't like it because it's seen as being negative. am not trying to upset those who think this is negative but if you go back a few seasons we really did have a chance to push on. we'd had two good seasons in the top flight and teams such as Everton, Newcastle, Fulham, Vile and Portsmouth were struggling - not to mention recently promoted teams. i honestly think this was our ideal opportunity to really kick on and build on a fantastic platform built by the club. support was good and the team strong. instead we dallied around with has-beens and over and again failed to land decent players although the board would have us think we almost got a number of players inc Owen, Bellamy etc. in truth we were probably no nearer to getting those players as we were Mido! from then we have become a shadow of what this club and its supporters stood for. we have lost the battle and the fight and apathy has set in. this is all my opinion of course. since relegation and promotion we have now fallen so far behind teams like Portsmouth, Everton, Newcastle etc that we cannot compete effectively (or wont do). the trouble now is that clubs like Reading and Wigan have also come on the scene and taken gambles on players we never will. at least not with the current set up. and i agree, we really are paper thin up front. do you remember some of the excitement on this board when we were signing Mido a few weeks ago. and once again our expectations have been let down! |

Bruce has first call on KallonSep 6 2007 By Colin Tattum, Birmingham Mail BLUES are in 'pole position' to take Mohammed Kallon on a free transfer, Steve Bruce revealed today. The Sierra Leone star (pictured) netted for Blues in the 6-0 win against Kidderminister Harriers in a private friendly yesterday and has given the Blues boss food for thought. Kallon, aged 27, had the remainder of his contract paid up by Monaco, who loaned him out to Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad last season. The move to the Gulf, where players of his stature can command in excess of £100,000 per-week net, set Kallon up for life. But Kallon is desperate to revive a latent talent that once impressed in Italy with Inter Milan by making a name for himself in the Premier League. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT And Bruce revealed that his links with Kallon's advisers gave him first shout, and a decision on whether to arrange a deal could be taken imminently. "It's wrong to say he's on trial," Bruce insisted. "I know the agent, he said he was coming to England and could he train with us. "I said no problem at all and we've been having a look at him. "He's training with us and getting into shape. If he can do us a turn, then we're in pole position to sort something out." After DJ Campbell's transfer to Leicester City, Blues have not got a striker of similar build and rapidity, although in his pomp Kallon was quicker. That's why Bruce decided to have a look at Kallon, and as no fee is required, an agreement shouldn't really dent the budget. When Blues first won promotion to the Premier League in 2002, Kallon was considered an option. And Bruce has followed his career studiously. "I had seen him play years ago," confirmed Bruce. "It was a bit like when I saw Dugarry for Bordeaux. We were watching somebody else, but he caught my eye. "Something just stays with you from games. Like Kapo as well, a couple of seasons back for Auxerre. "You remember them and monitor them. At Ipswich Town, Kallon played an unbelievable game for Inter Milan. Quick, lively, they couldn't live with him. That in itself tells you something. "He got a move to Monaco and then had a loan period to Saudi Arabia, which earned him a few bob! "Like I said, he's been with us a few days now and we're considering what's best." Kallon spent seven years in Italy, playing for six clubs in Serie A and B as Inter farmed him out. In 2003, he tested postive for the drug nandrolone and was banned for eight months, reduced to six on appeal. Inter sold him to Monaco for 4.5million euros in July 2004. In the 1996 African Cup of Nations, he became the youngest player ever to score an international goal, aged 16, three months and nine days against Burkina Faso. Kallon notched Blues' second goal in their romp yesterday, latching on to a through-ball to finish with a low shot. Rafael Schmitz headed Blues into the lead, and Kallon had a hand in goal number three when his parried attempt was forced in by Rowan Vine. Gary McSheffrey fired home a penalty after Vine was fouled and, in the second half, Neil Danns and McSheffrey completed the rout. Oubina and Wilson Palacios both had their first run-outs for Blues since their signings last week. |

Well the report its self does not sound promising as it sounds like he could be using us just to get fit. He was once a very good player and I hope he can be for us but he has been with us long enough now for the management to make a decision. |

I notice Bruce is dithering over Kallon now. The guy is 27, played for Inter Milan and Monaco, scored in a friendly. What more can the guy do? I went to the San Siro a few years back and Kallon was the best player on the pitch. I really don't understand whats going on with our club. |

if this guy doesn't get signed and trots off to another EPL club and does well i'm going to be furious. we have lost Bendtner, Cole and DJC since last season and only signed O'Connor with the jury out on Forssell's fitness. To me that suggests we are weaker than in the CCC. What kind of thinking went into those decisions I wonder? |
