BRUCE CONSIDERED NENE SWOOP

Birmingham boss Steve Bruce was interested in Nene before he joined Monaco over the summer.

Blues signed Daniel de Ridder on a free transfer in July after the forward enjoyed a successful two-year loan spell at Celta Vigo,
while Spanish midfielder Oubina arrived on loan from the Spanish Segunda Divison side last week.

Celta were relegated from the Primera Liga last season and Bruce admits Nene was among the players he considered a move for.
He said: "When a club gets relegated in Spain, it's the same as it is in England: you have a look and try and nick their best players.

"We got de Ridder from Celta and now Oubina. The centre-forward they had there, Nene, is a good player too. He's gone to Monaco.
"We had a chat with De Ridder about Oubina, of course, and he mentioned he was an excellent player and a good lad."
