Gotta say Kev, as much as I love the concept of the Pistols and admire Jonny Lydon's attitude and intelligence, Nevermind the ******** gets a bit samey after a while IMO. Perhaps it's because the opening few songs are so strong ('Bodies' is perhaps the ultimate punk song) but halfway through I think the songs lose a little bit of impact.

Think 'The Clash' 'Rocket to Russia' and 'Fresh fruit... vegetables' are better albums to listen to, but 'Nevermind the...' was a more important statement.

'Never Mind The ******' I still enjoy Charlie, but is it a classic ?

According to this documentary that I watched last year it is **thumbup

I love listening to John Lydon as well, theres another documentary he did a few years ago when he is on the top of a double decker bus being driven around London, having a right moan about the Capital and how its changed over the years, your right he's also a very intelligent and funny guy.

Stiff Little Fingers

Seen them a few times, first time was back in 79 at The Odeon on New Street, Last time was a couple of years ago at The Robin 2, Bilston. The wifes favourite album is Inflammable Material, she's listened to that album so many times over the years.

Two Classics.

Joy Division.

Jon Peel got me into Joy Division, the first time I heard 'New Dawn Fades' I was hooked on them.

My Fave Band, Unknown Pleasures is my fave album ever.

I've often thought how big they would have become if Ian Curtis had'nt killed himself back in 1980.

Saw Pete Hook and The Light at the 02 Academy recently and there was a great crowd there, the tribute band 'Transmission' are also very good.

I'd say my fave song by them is 'Dead Souls', I love that song.

This is probably their most famous song.

I wouldn't class joy division as punk tbh. I only know the song he wrote before killing himself. 'Love will tear is apart again'

Yea I was thinking that before I posted tbh.

Theres a few bands that you could say arent really punk, The Buzzocks spring to mind, The Stranglers, its a fine line tbh.

A lot of interesting stuff just before Punk, too, that didn't quite fit the label but shares the same spirit. The Stooges are the obvious example, but there are plenty of 'garage' bands who lid the groundwork.

This beauty is from 1974 and you can imagine a young Stuart Adamson or Joe Strummer really getting off on the beast of a chorus.

In my eyes the most consistent punk band, and I would argue Weller is the most gifted songwriter.

As well as the likes of 'Going Underground', my fave "fast" Jam song, they did some really interesting moody pieces, such as Butterfly Collector and Carnation.

After a dodgy retro spell, Weller is still making exciting and forward-thinking music now.

If my memory is correct was the B side to Strange Town.

English Rose was also excellent.

**** sake Pooley dont mention Metal, before you know it there will be a metal Topic and I cant stand the stuff.

Apart from Punk/New Wave and a bit of Ska I dont like anything else really.

I admire the way that Charlie is into anything and everything tho **thumbup
