Just posted on General Football Chat and mentioned I've been watching football since 1966. I remember my first game and gave me the idea of this post.

My first game was Sept(?) 1966 , Birmingham City vs Bury Div2 score 1-3.

I was sitting down in the City Stand (upper Railway End). We were winning 1-0 at HT.

Anybody go to that game?

More to the point, anybody remember their first game?

I can remember a whole series of matches against Bury. I can't remember the year at the moment, but it was a harsh winter with icy/snowy pitches and the Bury match kept getting postponed, and when we did get to play it we had replay after replay - No extra time and penalties then.

I can remember the name of the Bury goalkeeper, strangely enough, because he played so well against us and kept all our efforts out. It was Chris Harker.

My first match was the 1961/2 season, but I can't remember who it was against. I just remember walking onto the top of the terraces at the Kop/Tilton corner and looking down onto the pitch. From that moment I was hooked.

Cant quite remember my own first game but I remember my wifes first game.

We sat in the Tilton, it was our first season up and it was Bolton in November. Cant recall the exact date. I remember we took the lead in second half, then Jay Jay Okocha equalised. A minute later Savage put us in front again, and near the end Morrison beat the keeper but it hit the post (with one of those sliding shots - why does he always fall over when he shoots?) and it fell inside the six yard area to fall to Horsefield to make it 3-1 to the Blues. She was hooked. **thumbup

I remember coming away from the game thinking that Morrision had done absolutely brilliant and he just needed to improve his finishing and we have a great player. Problem was he still hasnt found it. ;)
