Dear Hoobs of Tunbridge Wells

The request was until after rememberence day and the derby day.

What wasn't said was having it because of rememberence day

It's probably my comments and your own mind that have linked the two.

It could be that BlueJan, in a way, was asking that we get behind the team and the manager and continue the debate between day and night after the derby game - which does happen to be on the 11th.

You must have read my letter to the Telegraph TJ

Perhaps Bluejan didn't mean it that way, but even if not, what on earth will it achieve?

We're playing another league team Sunday, not Manchester United in the FA Cup final, moaning or not moaning about Steve Bruce will make won't make a jot of difference. Similarly, getting behind the manager or not getting behind the manager won't make a scrap of difference.

No, the more I look at it the more I see a form of censorship

i'll change my order to two handbags, eh? :D

that's brillaint Proccy, wit and sarcasm at it's very best, many will read but not understand your reference but me - i salute you Sir! :lager: :LMAO:

Oh I'm feeling old.

I've just ordered a Volvo, interviewed a 21 year old girl who laughed at one of my jokes and said "thats the sort of thing my dad says, he's about your age" and sat and read the obituaries in the telegraph while I had my lunch.

OK Bluejan, I'll hold my morawotsit.

Moratorium
noun [c]
a stopping of an activity for an agreed amount of time:

How about us all agreeing. Both camps and all those on the fence.

No more NEW threads about Steve Bruce until after the vile game.
November 12th - that can't be hard.

And that means no threads attacking anti or pro or agnostic Bruce posters.

A few days? Can we all do it.

Please
.

Fine by me lady.

I rarely start them anyway, but if I notice a new one - I'll ignore it till Monday - OK **thumbup

Moratorium .... A legally authorised postponement before some obligation must be discharged.

Does that mean we all have to agree that Bruce should go if we lose to Villa?

There seems to be a contradiction here.

November the 11th is where we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice to maintain our liberty and right to free speech. You are using that important time to stifle debate and free speech.

To be honest, I'm actually quite offended.

Reality check required.

I thought those millions of people died because of an evil Fascist dictator who had invaded a neighbouring Sovereign State and planned to inflict his doctrine on the whole world. I thought our lads fought for fear of losing their own countries and families.

At least that's what my Grandad said was on his mind whilst he was being shot at in France and Burma.

Now that I realise that it was all just so that almost 70 years later, people could sit behind a keyboard and vent their spleen about a football manager it all somehow seems to make so much more sense.

You're right but then lose the point. The fact being that people died in defense of freedom, thats why freedom of speech is important now. Talking about a football manager might be the thin end of the wedge and totally innocuous but where does control begin and freedom of speech get eroded?

I mistook the original motive as someone saying that because of remembrance day a certain topic should not be discussed - I accept that perhaps I misinterpreted that

sort of proved my point on your immaturaty there didnt you?

yeah you can debate but i would have preferred you all to be a little more behind the club than anyone on here is. I mean you can all voice your opinions on here but how many do go to the games on here?

I agree in a way, I'm quite big on freedom of speech myself.
And yes, people did fight for freedom, however.
If they could see the kind of freedom they fought and died for they'd probably be horrified.

People need perspective, we're drowning in a sea of human rights and choking ourselves with our free speech.

Yes, discussing a football manager is just trite nonsense - and I do it too.

But I don't worry about the thin and thick ends of a wedge, and I don't worry about my inalienable and basic human right to have a knock at Brucey. Discussing football is a wedge with no thin or thick end, it's just discussing football.

There are many places, even now where freedom of speech, and many other things, is just a dream that will probably never come true.

But this country and this message board isn't one of them.

who are you to judge who on this messageboard is or isn't behind the club? we're all behind the club - even those who stay away - hence the reason we're on here! don't be silly...

we simply have differences of opinion and - possibly because we are behind the club - we choose to rant about them on here and not during the game!!
