We were in the old Premier League between 1955 and 1965 and 1972 and 1979 weren't we.

Without doubt, the worse thing he ever did was to sign 'Heskey' and change the style of play from football along the ground, with the likes of Dunn Forssell and Dugarry, to................"Get it onto Heskeys head" :applause:

Heskey probably thinks the same thing

In no particular order.

Top 5,

1) Signing Robbie Savage, the first player he signed after achieving promotion - the heartbeat of the side for 2 Seasons.
2) His Derby record
3) Promotion - twice !
4) Loyalty - Could've gone to Newcastle and didn't.
5) Being able to Attract the likes of Savage, Dunn, Upson and Dugarry to play for an "unfashionable" club - in the eyes of the media.

Bottom 5,

1) Constantly picking "half-hearted" wasters, EG, Gronkjaer and Julian Gray.
2) Not being able to sort out his issues with Mark Bowen
3) Relegation
4) Andy Johnson and £4.5Million for.........................Clinton Morrison :o
5) Being fixed in the idea of 2 defensive central midfield players whatever the opposition.

I think that what this thread shows, is that there are a lot of good things about SB as a manager. However, it also highlights a couple of really frustrating features of his style, summed up by Wisel and Paul Tait's Tee-shirt: namely, that his insistence on ALWAYS having to play with two defensive midfielders no matter WHO the opposition is (Southend at St Andrews!!) costs us on many occassions. If he could sort that out, and just be a little bit more flexible, he could be very successful - but at the moment the evidence suggests he does not think there is anything wrong with his attacking strategy.

Duggary left 6 months before Heskey arived.

I was thinkin' the same thing

Boy ....Dugarry MUST have been world class if he could float a cross from St Andrews that would reach Emile's head in the JJB Stadium.......got to be just over a hundred miles ,eh ?? a world record for a corner OR a free kick I would think :applause: :applause:

Having said that a Tebily free kick would have a splendid chance of reaching the Blackpool Tower

2.The selling of Andrew Johnson

5.Not winning any silverwear as such so far.

These 2 statements are stupid!!

1. At the time AJ wasnt getting many goals at all, he was a 1st divison striker with potenial to be a good striker, but at the time Bruce needed a goals and needed a quick change in form and Aj wasnt playing well enough to be kept.

2. As Steve Bruce is a relegation threat manager he cannot be expected to win silverware! It would be a better achievement in my opinion to keep blues up and gain a top half league position than winning the Intertoto cup or the league cup (Both unlikely).

So he spent over 4 million on another 1st division striker, whilst offloading one for the future for little more than a tripe supper.

How many goals did Morrison score for us?

Your argument is just full of holes.

personally i think he's tat, but i thought that about aj all those years ago too....

I always thought Clinton was alright for us. And at the time it was a great deal... who knew how it would turn out? no one, that's who.

I hardly think parting with AJ and 3.5 million quid constituted a great deal, even if Morrison had scored 20 for us.

And his best form was with Heskey? Culminating in 4 league goals....the man is a headless chicken-type offside machine.

Still, it's all about opinions, carrot.

but were you saying that at the time? i can tell you from being amongst 12000 bluenoses in the tilton at the time, i didn't hear one single, solitary moan at the time. in fact, being in row 6, the standing joke around us was to watch if he started running towards us as he couldn't change direction!!!

i've said before, not accusing you, but hindsight is always 20/20 vision.....
