Bendtner, 19, helped the Blues win promotion to the Premier League while on loan last season, and has been linked with another temporary move to St Andrews.

But Bruce said: "I don't think there is any chance of us getting Bendtner back on loan. I really don't think there is any chance of that happening.

"I don't think they would let him out for a start and there has been no conversation with Mr Wenger. It would be on my wish list but it is not going to happen."

This from a story about Arsenal.

Just a question, does talking about a player who is not at you club and that yu have not made an official approach about constitute 'tapping up'?

Just wondered. I seem to recall an Arsenal fan on here last season accusing SB of the same.

i don't think that particular article could be construed as tapping up, bearing in mind sb has written off our chances of getting him under any circumstances. the tapping up process normally involves a manager stating to the press something along the lines of " yes he's a player we would like at the club and if he was available we'd try and do something".

sb is just mirroring comments wenger has made earlier this season, in that he doesn't envisage nicky going anywhere
