1-0 down at home to the vile & we play with one man up front for half an hour ???

containing tactics, defending deep, conceding possession... made a very ordinary mid-table team look like man utd..

wtf**

a disgrace

bruce out for gods sake

Apart from fist 8 mins of second half they battered us.

I'm not sure if we were bad and made them look good or they are just a good team who made us look por.

I didn't understand why we played two holding midfielders in Nafti and Muamba and i wasn't sure of what Palacios role was meant to be either.

The fist half seemed to me that we had players not sure what they were meant to be doing. Througout both halves though Kapo was really poor.

The problem is though were not strong enough at the back to go 4-4-2 for 90 mins with two attacking wide players. We concede playing 4-5-1, many weeks we would be absolutely battered if we were more offensive fot the full 90

What do you mean???

We play 4 at the back using 4-5-1 and 4-4-2.

What difference does that make to the defence wtf**

But we're not doing too well playing 4-5-1. We're playing holding midfielders in a defensive setup and we're still being opened up too too easy at times. If it's supposed to be our strong point, why do we still look amateurish at times??

The softly softly approach is not working. We just need to go for the kill and put the other teams on the back foot.

Let em go Bruce or you go.

As soon as you looked at our subs bench today it was obvious steve bruce thought at some point he would be chasing the game (O'Conner, Forssell, Larsson, McSheffrey) if he had started the game with a couple of these on the pitch he might have been able to name some defensive players on the bench to close the game out. I have defended SB for to long now, he was wrong today and should have had the balls to admit his mistake and make the change after 20mins not at half time

Today being at the game I thought firstly it was a "typical" derby, not much good football on display and it was a scrappy afair. The effort from both teams I thought was good, but in my opinion vile seemed to want to win the game more than we did.

The Tactics 1st & 2nd Half

In the first half I thought we sat back and let vile attack us too much. We started off in the first few minutes with a high tempo, and looked the better team. But as the minutes went on we started to get careless and give the ball away, and didn't have any width to our play. From a neutrals point of view you could say vile deserved to be ahead at half time, albeit coming from an OG. Bruce knew at the half time whistle changes had to be made. This is what happened with Palacios (who played well below par imo) who went off for Forssel. This was a good move from Bruce. In the 2nd half, again we started off slow, but we kept on going and deserved to score form a Forssel header. Game on. After the goal we had all the pressure and attacking substitutions were made, we looked like scoring, well I thought we did with Ridgewells header...And in the dieing minutes Agbonlahor gets a goal, completely against the run of the play. So the question is, why didn't we win?

Why Didn't We Win?

Their is only one reason for this, the players. Most people think it's bruce's fault. But he has proved he can win derbys if he has the players, which atm he doesn't.

If you look where blues have played their best, this is against the best teams in the prem, ie. Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd. Why? It's because these are the teams are foreign players want to beat. Blues need homegrown players, like villa had. These players know how important these games are for the fans, and will give 100% to win. I didn't see this is one of our blues players but I did in vile's. Im not saying vile deserved to win, but they showed the effort and commitment blues needed, it wasn't about the quality today. Hopefully in January we can sign another "Savage" as it were, who can clench his fists and get the other players going, and against the teams like villa explain to the other players that youve got to roll your sleeves up and win it for the fans.

In Conclusion

In conclusion I don't think blues deserved to lose. We were unlucky not to get at least one penalty in the game and vile had the rub of the green with the ref and their first goal.

Like most blues fans, im gutted, but i'll be their next match cheering blues on and hopefully getting three points. And I'll also be their on the 20th of April, where blues get their revenge!

My conclusion is that we didnt deserve to lose today, nor againt Man Utd, or Man City.

But we did.

And we will look back at the end of the season and wish that we would've wanted points instead of performances.

Bruce Out.

Fair comments I think on the whole you are basically right not sure about the homegrown players thing thought there was lots of passion all round to be fair. One thing about Kapo, I knew when we signed him that when results went against us he would get it for his commitment , I agree he does at times look like he won't get stuck in but we haven't signed him for that. each player brings certain strengths to a team his are not getting "stuck In"
We are at the moment not getting what we deserve and I will hate it if we end up at the end of the season with a "plucky " losers mentality. KRO

Oh yeah i suppose.

Its ok, we will claim to play "well" all season and go down. That was clever of Mr. Bruce, because then after game 38, if relegation has been confirmed, he can blame luck and say we were unlucky to go down.

But if we stay up, he can claim himself to be the modern day Jesus for keeping us up.

All hail Sir Steve Bruce OBE MBE CBE "no"

My conclusion is if we defend like we did for the 2 goals then you get what you deserve.Ridgewell was shocking for both of them. Also we dont play to win only not to get beat. :Blues:

watched the game on tv..........so i doubt i can really comment on some of the off the ball play.
Brummie raises some good points, however we really need to look at the reality of the situation, and not be wishful thinkers.

some of the passes were real "suicide" moves, often passes lacked any real direction except up and forward........no one there to receive them.

truth is, i think bruce has done quite well with what he has been given...........its ok to say go all out and attack on the premise of receiving the same amount of points in a 10 nil loss as in a 2-1 loss. Bruce is playing it as he sees it, and how he feels the quality of players on hand can handle it.

we need 3 good class players, costing about 20 mil quid to become a good mid table team...( yep..a la vile) the board has not backed Bruce but have really give him 2 fish and five loaves and a good book to read !

at the ticket prices you guys are asked to pay for whats on offer..........we should be screaming ........"Board out" not Bruce out...

few managers would put up with the **** this lot are offering as backing...........the revenues now, with tv etc. are better than ever...........no excuse for Gold and co......not to give some support to their loyal fans around the world.

i wonder what Bruce would do with the right support......3 good players..........Anelka? Bresciano, Wayne bridge ?......a lot i think..........he has learnt the hard way.........he is passionate...............his only downfall is being a yes man to this miserable lot .............."the fish rots first from the head "
