Ok this is where i get abused. Im a Villa fan and just wanted to give my opinion on the game. So no doubt after i get abused this will also be my last post

I thought you had a lot of positives today and although a lot of people on here seem very doom and gloom i thought for large parts of the game you had a lot of possesion and played more attractive football than we did. But you do miss a Savage type player.

Ridgewell - i love this guy but he will make those kind of mistakes but i think as he gains more experience will be a great signing for you.

De Ridder - i liked the look of him and yes it was a pen just wished he didnt make such a meal of it.

jerrome - why did you start him ahead of forsell? Forsell looked very good by the way.

What confused me was the tatics you used 451 at home with two defensive midfielder and no real defenders on the bench seemed a very strange choice. When you bought on forsell then went 442 you looked a better side.

I think you will stay up this season if you play like that i would be praying for another striker though.
I also thought kelly didnt really know what to do about Young and was lucky to not get more than 1 yellow.

My opinion on Villa - i thought we played poor and have played a lot better than that this season so i would have been ok with a draw. Must admit myself and my wife (who hates football) were jumping around the room when gabby scored though.

Overall opinion - You could have had two pens and Villa edged out a win. I think it was closely fought and it could have gone either way.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

If we would have started forssell with jerome would have been a different story, you were all over the place untill you scored a very lucky goal against the run of play which made you settle & knocked the wind out of us, yes we should of had at least 1 penalty, but tbh the reason we lost was bruce's tactics/team selection.

thanks...but we must start getting more points or it will be back in the fizzy pop league and people wont remember the nearly got a point or deserved to have three etc...

To be fair to your team you have a start of a very good team, the pace is great and I can see you getting close if not a european place this season...good luck to you for the rest of the season !

Fair Play Boble, all good points well made, don't think many on this forum will disagree with you about tatics and formation, seems everyone can see it apart from Bruce and the pro Bruce brigade.

it reminds me of the relegation season when many of us could see the writing on the wall in October but no-one believed it til it happened. can't bare the thought of similar happening this season!

End of the day, we lost to a villa team that didnt play to their full capacity. Theyve spent a lot of money in that team, and in comparison we've spent nothing really, apart from some second second rate players, e.g. Gary O'Connor. I personally cant wait for Carson Yeung to take over if it means we have the funds available to bring in the right type of players and not other teams cast offs.
Hopefully this is the wake up call the board need cause its gonna be a long hard season. We need a clean out of the wrong type of players we've got at this club, and bringing in some top quality strikers.
Fair play to the villa, if we skanked them in the 87th minute, after not playing special, we'd be loving it aswell.

I must admit i'm turning again although i'm usure as to whether it's a reaction to yesterday or the fact that it seems as though we are a good team just playing the wrong way. I'm convinced we've got the personnel to stay up but i do not think were playing the players we have in the right way.

I don't see the manager taking the responsibility for the losses and the nearly but not quites but i do see him shifting the blame onto lady luck and the officials. I don't like listening to interviews when i believe half of it is rubbish and the other half is cliches. I dislike the way that we seem to play on way whoever we play.

i agree there, i think with credit to him Steve Bruce has assembled a good squad but i just don't think he knows what to do with them.

our 2nd goal yesterday was just an indication of what this team can do and there are other players on the fringes who must surely be wondering how they get a chance with results going against us. the likes of Jaidi, Parnaby, Sadler etc.

a few weeks ago i wanted Bruce here without the restricted management of the current boardroom set up and their failure to provide the right funds but now i just want a new man with our current sqaud and the prospect of a January window!

yeah its a bit like that film Groundhog Day.

Thought the Viler summed up the match well, i thought Vile played poorly but so did Blues imo, first half showing was appalling, second half it picked up a bit, but it wasnt really an inspiring match imo it lacked the usual spark of a derby game between the two clubs.

Was really narked about it last night but this morning im no more depressed than if we'sd have lost to anyone else, its just painful to think that Coca Cola football is firmly in our sights again while the Vile push onwards.

As my Viler brother in law said on the phone last night, "you're going down again" pity i couldnt argue with him.

I think he is referring to your comment, "our 2nd goal yesterday was just an indication of what this team can do" meaning your are talking like a vile fan?

He is not taking into account with Ridgewells OG, Blues did effectively score two!

Or am I assuming too much! ;)

oh i see; i re-read it and still didn't see my error!

see have re-read it again and i was, of course, referring to Forsells goal. which is why i went on to suggest that 'our' fringe players like Parnaby, Jaidi etc could find themselves hard done by to be left out.

well spotted tunruc and f62 **thumbup

no i simply thought the movement we showed for Forssell's goal was spot on, it was fluid and incisive - more please!

sorry mate, i caused the confusion.

on other threads i've defended Taylor's reputation by stating that their 2nd goal was the product of a good cross, caused by the defender (de Ridder) showing him inside and not out as Kelly had done for most of the game.

i thought i'd referred to that in this; but no i was talking of our only goal of the game! sorry mate, yes lie down needed here too!

the move for Forsells goal was quality it was just a shame for you guys that untill that your attacks were pretty toothless.

In regards to the comment about Villa getting in Europe soon i highly doubt it unfortunately. MON's decision to not buy a right back and lack of goals could cause us problems.

But Ashley Young what a buy he was he needs to be given a chance with england. **** me he is so much better than Downing.

what I said was I think you'll be around the europe places this year perhaps even nicking a spot, I feel that you wont be far off it. you have a young pacey team that will only get better.

long-term possibly but he's too inconsistent at the moment; Downing might not be special but he's average most games!
