I can't stomach it that you insult Damien Johnson and when the teams are read out at St. Andrew's the largest roar of approval is for Maik Taylor who has been consistently poor this season much worse than DJ. Who should play instead of Kapo why would it be any different to the Spurs game? Why would you change a winning team that won so convincingly. I don't think we should have fear installed in us vs Pompey we know that they'll be buzzing after their FA Cup result let's do what we did to Spurs to them. I'm getting fed up of Reading mirroring our results though. I think win this game and maybe another and that will keep us up. We still have to play Reading as well.

Its says on the link
Players for the squad to be picked from the list of players as they are all fit and avilble, it does not say that they are the squad.

Birmingham: Taylor, Kelly, Ridgewell, Jaidi, Murphy, Larsson, Muamba, Johnson, McSheffrey, McFadden, Forssell, Jerome, Nafti, Doyle, Queudrue, Zarate, De Ridder, Parnaby.

A bit mis leading

He played in the reserves against Chelsea Reserves this week. By all accounts he was quite dreadful.

He does have masses of potential - but I think he will need to toughen up a bit and get some end product to his play. He's a player for next season I think - he would be a liability at the moment. He'll come good. **thumbup

He's done one useful thing for us since joining, the cross for Forssell's header against B6.

I think McSheff has started due to the fact he's not a soft touch, he gets stuck in.

also de ridder is right footed and mcsheffry is left footed , mcliesh dont like to play players out of position by the looks of it.

i must admit from what i have seen of de ridder he dont warant a start, bench maybe but the team are doing well so (apart from last night that is ) so i think he will hav to wait and see if larson gets an injury or is suspended.

Dead right everybody was screaming for Zarate before last night, and now it is apparent he is good but not that good. It was the same earlier in the season and De Ridder was brought in at Blackburn (3-0) and proved to be short of the mark. He couldn't cross a ball the whole game and corners were woeful.

Sorry but must disagree, he has had many games in the reserves where reports are that he has played really well, the game i actually seen was the one against Arsenal the first game Zarate played for us and De Ridder was exceptional in the same game Mcsheffrey was awful and by and large has been awfull ever since talk that he's improving and that he gets stuck in is merely painting over the cracks but he has been given far more of a chance than De Ridder has. it was mentioned how bad he was against Blackburn, i can say without any hesitation that Mcsheffrey has been poor in 90% of the games he has played but has far has Mcleish is concerned his face fits unlike that of De Ridder but it was failed to be mentioned how well he played against Wigan and Man u , sorry weak arguments guys :outtahere:

Didn't have a problem playing a defender (Kelly) out of position against Bolton which cost us the game it's a bit different however for a winger not comparing his ability to that of Giggs Ronhaldo Downing or many others but they frequently swap wings without any problem in otherwords it's not that big of an issue.

McLeish also played Seb and McSheffrey on their opposite wings so they could cut in. But De Ridder is supposed to be capable of playing on both wings.

The only reason I can think of is that maybe he is a bit lightweight. I don't agree with it because he has the ability. I would like to think that if we were a bit safer in the league then he would get a few more games.

It's a shame because I was really excited about him when he first arrived. At least I suppose we can make some money on him if we sold him :(

I don't see why we have to sell him because he hasn't gone straight into the first team. Isn't he only 22 or 23 years old? He spent most of last season out injured (I think?). He's only just moved to this league. He's a young player for the future and not a cash investment.

By that age he really should be challenging for a regular 1st team start shouldn't he?

What i've seen of him I like but the fact he isn't anywhere near the 1st team makes me think he wont be here next season.

Depends. Some players are late developers... De Ridder certainly showed promise at the U21 tournament, I'd be willing to give him more time.

I thought he would have said something public like he did with Tiny when January came up, im sure he will find some use of him in the future though as he looks a very good player.

He was very good against Wigan but was shocking if I remember against United and was completly out of the game, though as shown McLeish highly rates Gary McSheffery and Kapo so theres no way there place could be taken, and Seb Larsson is undroppable so..

I will translate it, I'm dutch ;)

Daniël de Ridder has a hard time now at Birmingham City. The 24-year old winger has become a customer on the platform after a manager switch. While Steve Bruce gived him the confidence, he has not had a chance under the new manager, Alex McLeish.

"Bruce told me I was player like Ryan Giggs and that I could become a big player, he was excited about me," told De Ridder in an interview. Because Bruce left Birmingham the dutchman only played 10 games for The Blues in the Premier League.

McLeish is impressed by De Ridder his playingstyle, but he doesn't needs a technician like De Ridder while Birmingham is fighting to stay in the Premier League. McLeish said: 'You should play in a team with better players.' "He thinks i'm to much a technician then a fighter. Then send me to Manchester United," said De Ridder as a joke.

"Last summer I could sign for Birmingham and for Ajax," said the two-time winner of the European Championship with the youth of Holland. "I have spoken with Henk Ten Cate and Martin van Geel, but Steve Bruce was much more convincing to me," told the player from Amsterdam about the formal trainer from Birmingham.

He's playing a good match at the reserves. He has given two assists against the Spurs in the first half. It's 'Tea-time' now :P
