What a player..

After seeing this guy play in the spurs game I have got to say, even if I have to pay a tenner towards his transfer fee we have to buy this guy, from watching him carve through spurs defence it reminded me of our defence when we went down, taking air swipes and commiting to the man only for him to skip right past them, was nice to see it happen to someone else for a change.

Problem is with him after seeing him play at the spurs game, then on tele against arsenal in which he also dribbled round there defence, theres obviously going to be some competiton for his signature by a load of clubs that can spend more freely than us, we can only hope, but lets not make this another Bedtner and the board continue with what they started in january and buy this guy (obviously depending on whether we are still in the prem) as he looks a gem of a player and a great find.

Anyhow was just wondering if we do sign him where do you guys imagine he will play if he starts, alongside the forse or faddy, or even three up top ??

EDIT >> Hope he grabs himself a goal against Pompey as its his birthday am I correct??

we've talked in great detail about the skills and technique of zarate in recent weeks on this forum mate, aswell as his hefty 10 million price tag so we wont go into that.
I think big eck is doing the right thing in keeping him on the bench away from prying eyes. I trust his judgement enough not to have to see him play this season if he can make him a perminant player at the end of it.
As for where he would play i would like to see him behind the front two in a free creative role cause with his pace he will cause major problems for any defence

Maybe that means he will play a bigger part on saturday.

You'll have to go to Portsmouth to see him now.

I can't see how Zarate would fit in between 2 strikers, he's not a midfielder.

He does all of his work in the final 3, in forward position.

He's prepared to run around, left, right and centre to devestating effect.

I reckon he's a deep lying forward, kind of similar to Tevez.

That would mean McFadden dropping to LW, is he happy to play there?

Other than that, I'd love to see a Zarate-Forssell-McFadden combination, with JM and MZ both coming back when we're not in possession. I just can't see us doing that though, not this season at least.

--------Larsson-Nafti-Muamba--------
Zarate----------------------------McFadden
-----------------Forssell-------------------

Looks like our best team on paper. But football is played on grass.

i cant see him dropping back to lm, the understanding he has built up with forsell in the short time he's been here can only get better surely. He's gotta slot in behind then two somewhere feeding balls left an right, making menacing runs into the box for the return ball.

It would work it just needs to be developed

And who said managing was an easy job lol.

I hope McLeish and the crew make him feel at home here at Blues so he loves it so much he'd want to stay here.

A look-alike and another Messi we have.

I understand that, what I ment was you know blues we are likely to offer them £5 million plus rising to £10 million over the next four years, and then someone like totenham or arsenal comes along and offers £10 million up front.

Possitive hes contracted to the team in Quatar. So shouldent be too bad, depending on our boards willingness to spend.

when he came to us i remember the mails article saying that his price tag is £20m and Mcleish said he is just a temporary player to help us through the rest of the season.

I think he will start either against pompy or newcastle in place for fors as i think Mcleish is still wary of his knee injury and wont want to push him too much.

no way will forse be dropped after he's just scored a hat-trick, he will be given a run in the team & hopefully will be on fire now he's confidence should be high :banner:

I heard £10 million ??

I know I have probably said this allready but if we have the funds we must invest in this guy.

thats exactly what it would be, an investment. A player like zarate can only get better so his value should increase with skill/age blues will never loose money on zarate

But as we all know persuading the boys upstairs you have to speculate to accumulate is a differant game altogether. I just hope they put enough faith in mr mcleish and take note he knows what he's talking about come transfer time.

I'd rather we paid £20m for him, got the best years out of him then sold him on when he's 32 for about £5m.

If you look at Alex's philosophy, he builds teams. As much as we all like players with flair and the ability to take people on, Mauro I think needs to show he is a team player not just a very gifted individual.

Man Utd had Ronaldo in and out of their first team until they cured him of his showboating and made him into the kind of team player he is now. Can blues afford £15-20 million for a player who still has so much to learn. And could we afford to keep him on the bench or still adapting in the reserves.I think the same or similar may be happening with Daniel.

Yes, I know Mauro is good, but for that kind of money we could have 4 or 5 McFadden's.
