Birmingham stay unlikely for Zarate
tribalfootball.com - March 11, 2008

Birmingham City aren't expected to pursue a permanent deal for Argie youngster Mauro Zarate.
The Birmingham Mail says Zarate's six-month loan move will have to be addressed but the price tag set by his club Al-Saed would most likely make a permanent summer transfer prohibitive.

What the F@@@
I KNOW THIS HAS COME FROM TRIBAL BUT IT REFRENCES BIRMINGHAM MAIL, anyone seen it in the mail?

we knew that when he came here. its nothing new

we will not spend our whole transfer budget on 1 player (its most likely that its more than our whole transfer budget)

Yes, it was within this article discussing what may possibly happen in the summer. (paragraph 10 talks about Zarate)

Hi Thanks, it reads more as speculation in the context of the whole article,
by the way are you Baloo who used to run the net baloo's mail forum in the mid 90's, if so I was a member, "Richard in Riga" I was the Blues fan living and working in Latvia at the time.

Sounds like Mauro wants to stay -

Quote:

Mauro Zarate says he is ready to make an impact at Birmingham and he wants to stay in England.

The highly-rated Argentine striker joined The Blues in the January transfer window after moving from Qatar outfit Al-Sadd.

Zarate shocked many people last year when, as one of the most promising players in Argentina, he opted to move to the Middle East rather than Europe.

And Zarate admits he regrets moving to Qatar.

"I really don't know what I was thinking when I accepted to be transferred to Qatar," said Zarate - who is yet to start a Premier League game.

"I am very pleased to be at Birmingham because although the team is trying to avoid the relegation zone and that is not a happy situation, at least I am fighting for an objective.

"I am getting adapted to English football. I am waiting for the coach Alex McLeish to give me a chance to play a match from the first minute.

"He wants to include me slowly but the situation is difficult because the team is playing well.

"For the moment I have been given a few minutes so I try to take advantage of them all I can. When I get the chance to play from the first minute I hope to score several goals."

Happy

Zarate insists he is very happy with life in England and has no intention of returning to Qatar - as he is currently only on loan with a view to a permanent deal at St Andrews.

"I am much more comfortable in England than in Qatar," he continued.

"Besides that, English football is much rougher, I like this very much. Football is played here and all the grounds are great. I hope I can stay for a long time in England.

"My idea is not to return to Qatar. I want to play in a good league and this is one is the best. I hope that Birmingham extends my loan or buys my transfer. I am fine at Birmingham, the city is very nice."

I agree if we buy this guy will be an absoloutly amazing buy in my opinion, he has an amazing pair of feet and has a load of tricks under his sleave as soon as he learns the league in due time he will be an even better player than he already is.

its amazing how he doesnt actually use tricks he just has super-fast feet, he is neear impossible to keep up with, if he stays & is starting next season he IMO will no doubt make he's name in the premiership! SIGN HIM UP BLUES, stop being so tight

Zarate finally started a game v Pompey but cannot find any posts about his performance

Did he partner Forssell up front ?? I know Mcfaddy was benched because he had a long drive down from Scotland afetr his wife had given birth

Zarate was booked for diving (hope he cuts that nonsense out) in the 1st half and was brought off for Jerome just after the hour mark

How did he play at Fratton Park ????

Also, for that kind of money, you need the finished article. Zarate is good, but last night he took the ball and didn't pass to much, time and time again he just wanted to dribble the ball past every player on the pitch and score a wonder goal....he needs to be told to PASS!!! Too often was someone like Larsson left in acres of space calling for the ball from him.

He had a good game though and showed signs of the quality player he is. The partnership un front though is Forssell and McFadden no questions asked.

Zarate was playing like selfish little bu**er. Larsson and Forssell were several times desperatly yelling to get a pass, but no... Football is team sport.. Can't wait to see Forssell and McFadden partnering again.

this is may argument , he's no good to us if he dont pass , he needs to be told this.

i did want him to start a game but in midfield in a free role not in place faddy although that was'nt realy big ecks fault but i still would have put on jerome instead of zarate .

big wont make that mistake again i'm sure.

I also noticed on the sky highlights that it seemed that Forssell was the one that would be dropping deep and trying to link play and also the one closing down the defenders more. I don't think this would have played into the Mikel's strengths so it may be that Fors and Zarate can't play well together, but Zarate and Jerome and Fors and Faddy should be the 2 combinations!
