Time to drop Ridgewell IMO, I'm sure these mistakes are'nt going unnoticed and Alex McLeish has replacements in mind already.

I agree, i think that AM is just making the best of what he has until he can bring in talent of his own.

I think that Ridgewell will be the the thorn in AM and the squads side at the moment. It dont matter how good a manager he is and how much preperation he puts in, AM loses games because of simple defending basics. Ridgewell should be made to watch that game to see where he is going wrong. He just panic defends all the time a very weak link in what is become a tight squad. If we had options he would be on the bench < <

I think if we stay up then McLeish will make huge changes to the spine of the team. A GK, 2 CB's, a CM and a striker (Zarate?????).

Until then Ridgewell has to get the mistakes out of his system, the focus will be on him more if he plays the next game. So he will have to be no-nonsense.

one thing that is now for certain is we will always concede goals and of late Ridgewell seems to have had an hand in most of them, it's pretty much to late to change anything which is why AM tried to address the issue to no avail in Jan alternatives are limited but if this trend continues we have either we can score one more than the oposition or bring in Schmitz, Taylor or rotate the defence to accomodate at the expence of Ridgewell no time for sentiment time and games are running out.

I think that we will now get a o-o-c centre back in now, probably that Sengelese guy. We are heading for the drop if we don't do something

Ridgewell has made more than his share of mistakes, and i only hope that continual mental lapses are something one can grow out of.

A little off topic, but Krystain Pearce should be close to (if not completely) capable of contributing a great deal to the first team, next season.

In the worst case, if Blues are in the Championship, some combination of Ridgewell, Pearce, Taylor, and Jaidi would do exceedingly well in my opinion.

If Blues remain in the prem then certainly one from either Jaidi or Taylor will be sold (if not both), Pearce will be given a real chance to prove himself, and then either be loaned to a Championship side or have earned himself a place as cover or possibly more, which would mean that either one or two CBs will be brought in.

Schmitz will be sent back to Lille in any case I would imagine.

McLeish will sort it all out.

GK + 2 CB a must by the sounds of things

I think McLeish has to stick with Ridgewell, at least for the forseeable future. He reminds me very much of Darren Purse in that he can be very solid for most of the match, but you are always waiting for that one mistake. I think it's a lack of concentration, more than anything else, and possibly it's something that could be ironed out by a sports psychologist.

alot of players have this trend ,Matt Sadler was another,
the worrying thing is when they dont learn from the mistakes.

Whats confusing is that when Ridgewell was captain, i thought he was brilliant, even chipped in with a couple of goals. It seems he has got worse and worse everygame since DJ has taken the armband. Very odd. I would stick with him, he makes costly mistakes, but i think we would severly fall apart at the back if he wasnt there, as he leads the back four.

Let's face it, until we have a goalkeeper who can command his area, we're always going to be prone to defensive mistakes. The defence should work as a combined unit, helping each other out. Our defenders do not cover each other and get little help from the wing-halves either.

I think ownership problems and delayed refusals, helped to blight McCleish's January plans. He knew where we needed to strengthen and did his best I think in a very high-priced transfer window.

That we are playing with such flair and promise (given our temperate squad)- is even getting my adrenaline going again :D

Gordon McQueen on Sky and some strange man (who kept getting his facts wrong) and Steve Claridge on Radio 5 - both were independantly ecstatic and full of praise for Blues.

Even though we lost, the future does look good. And, I'm sure that the weaknesses we have will be adressed and corrected. With thought and reason, and not just buying for the sake of it.

you cant expect to win every game .. when the other team scores somebody must be at fault? .. and that usually has to be a defender? ... hes allowed to make mistakes

wtf** So it's Taylor's fault that Ridgewell ***** outside of the penalty area and palys a !"£$ backpass against Reading, or gifts the ball to Jenas etc, etc.....

Sorry, but you can't blame Taylor for Ridgewell being the biggest Liability on the pitch every game.

Granted Taylor has his own issues, but we have gained more points from Taylor's goalkeeping over the years that we will ever gain from Liam '1 major **** up per game' Ridgewell!!!!

It has to be Taylor and Jiadi against Reading.

Ive thought that Ridgewell should be dropped for a while now. He costs us too many goals. Pretty mucha goal a game, we can't have that when we are struggling. In my opoinion Taylor and Jaidi should be together. Neither of them have done as badly as Ridgewell is doing when they have played. You can see that Ridgwell is a decent player but he just is not showing good form. Taylor and Jaidi have been solid all season, can't fault either of them.

hang on boys lets just hang on a second here

we have a very young centre half who took a big gamble by moving across clubs in the city, he was very impressive for us at the start fo the season and granted he has made a few mistakes but you can't doubt his effort and commitment, and i might add he has been a very big threat for us from corners this season... plus for the majorty of the season he has not had a steady centre back partner to play with, he needs to form a relationship with the rest of the defence

i mean the lads still gets hate mail from so called blues fans for god sake, can ytou imagine how hard it is for him, lets just lay off him abit. because whether you like it or not he is going to be our centre half for the next 8 games and we need to support him

and just for the record i think he had a very good game against newcastle the other night

ok rant over

As error prone as Ridgewell has been, the enitre central defence including Maik Taylor is a shambles, and the reason we keep no clean sheets, hopefully next season we'll see................................

1 GK, Please get some one who doesn't look like a nervous wreck in goal, I thought GK's got better with age.

3/4 CB, A complete refit here me thinks.

1/2 CM, A bit of passing ability would be nice.

1/2 LM, cover for Kapo, or complete turnover if Kapo leaves (don't leave, got a funny feeling he might). :crying:

1 CF, Maybe, depends on what Jerome does.

Out: Maik Taylor, Richard Kingson, Jaidi, McSheffrey, Nafti, O'connor.
