Mr keegan...... so come on... :banner: make it intimidating on monday :Blues: Battle ... Kevin Keegan. « Previous « PreviousNext » Next » View GalleryBy Miles Starforth KEVIN Keegan says Monday's relegation six-pointer at St Andrew's should hold no fears for his players – despite them being more used to challenging for honours than fighting relegation. Birmingham City's home is one of the more intimidating stadiums in the Premier League. And with both sides battling for their top-flight futures, Keegan knows his team must keep their cool in what is certain to be a charged atmosphere. Birmingham are just two points behind Newcastle, and a win would push Keegan's men even closer to the drop zone. There is a lot at stake, and Keegan – whose team have not won any of his eight games in charge – believes the experience he has in his dressing room will prove crucial in coping with the run-in. He told the Gazette: "We always talk about the crowd here when you play at St James's Park. "The crowd can get you victories sometimes out of difficult situations when you might only have got a draw. "In tough games, they can be the difference, and Birmingham is one of those places that when you go there, you do notice it. "Some places don't seem as lively, but Birmingham has got it. But the players will know what to expect. They've all been there before. "The one thing you can't say about this football club is when we put a team out, it's inexperienced. "There are a lot of players with international experience and lots of caps. "I'd hate to think we'd be caught out by the fact that we're going to Birmingham and the atmosphere's going to be quite lively." |

On it's day it's still got it and is one of the most intimidating in the Country, just watch the Villa 02 and Ipswich Semi 01 and you'll see. Thats why managers go on about the crowd i.e Hoddle and Ferguson. We need to be on it again tomorow night, |

True, but that has no relation to our crowd. The results though  |

One thing we have done of late is make the ground more intimidating. When we arent getting on our own players backs, while the atmosphere might not be brilliant for songs and chants - there is definite hostility that you dont get at alot of other grounds. |

There are a still couple of intimidating aspects associated with a visit to St. Andrews ; 1) The entrance fee. 2) The Russian Roulette of pie eating and the 'will I won't I survive it " mystery. 3) Someone from this message board grabbing you by the lapels and saying, " you're that Shamrock Blue aint ya? " and declaring undying love. |
