Outsung by a half empty Newcastle end for most of the match. Not happy. It was very evident, I thought, that there were a lot more women and children at the game last night than usual - and that didn't help things. We had one decent Keep Right On at the beginning, and one half decent one after the goal; one good 'We're Birmingham City'; and one good 'We're On Our Way' (great to see that back), but apart from that - nothing. The second half our end was silent. It seems there's a better atmosphere when there's a smaller crowd - more die hards willing to sing. And you'd think with it being Paddy's Day yesterday it would have helped - but it didn't. |

Why? The grounds not in Ireland, our fans are mosty English? Moaning for the sake of moaning, the atmospher first half was pretty good as was the football being served up, the atmosphere in the second half was dull and uninspiring, as was the football being served up. |

From what I saw/heard, the atmosphere in the first half was pretty dull too. |

Yep. And with it being Paddy's Day, you'd think it was an excuse for most people to be a bit more joyful. Also saw a good few tricolour Irish flags in the ground. |

Why would 'most people be joyful' on Paddy's day!? We're English, and we don't even celebrate St.Georges day! |

The way the game was going last night, the players needed a bit of support especially in the 2nd half. Maybe we'd have done a bit better with more support? The effort was there from the players but the crowd were very quiet. Sadly, it seems people no longer see being at the game and having a good sing as part of the enjoyment. |

Not sure why thats got anything to do with it. 1st half atmosphere was very good (in the tilton). and what do you expect after that 1st 10 mins of the 2nd half displayed on pitch - utter tripe. Hardly inspiring was it. |

the atmospheres been shocking the last few seasons the only time we ever get behind the team is when we are winning by at least 3 goals such as pompy a couple of seasons back or spurs this season. Was embarrassing last night though having half an allocation of away support singing shall we sing a song for you throughout the game. |

The atmos in the 1st half was decent. In the 2nd half the nervous display on the pitch got to the fans, pretty much everybody there knew that they would get the equaliser. The Newcastle fans only made noise after they had scored, even then I could hardly hear them in the Tilton. Oh and full marks to the DJ/announcer fading out of the Tamperer so KRO could be heard loud and clear, and then playing that stupid Prem music after we finished. Too many times that music has drowned us out completely. |

Great point **thumbup I'd forgot about that....it made a huge difference to the first KRO. The atmosphere in the Tilton was good first half I thought. Second half was a different matter, but then so was the football. |

People will not find the reason for a change in atmosphere on music, stewarding, women and children, seats or the weather. It is a universal phenomena across the Premiership.Every club suffers from it. It may have something to do with 'inevitability' and such of the Premiership that is having a draining effect upon the fans, year upon year, every club stays in its alloted place. The lower down the divisions you go, the more rowdy and boisterous the atmosphere. Perhaps this is the future. Amid more globalisation and gentrification of football we may be losing the 'old' atmosphere. But please don't think its only at St Andrews - its everwhere. Even Ferguson refers to Old Trafford as a morgue at times. And they are top. If you want to have a go at bluenoses kilkenny friend, choose a topic that is relevant to blues, and not something that is happening everywhere. **thumbup |

"and what do you expect after that 1st 10 mins of the 2nd half displayed on pitch - utter tripe. Hardly inspiring was it" I always thought being a 'supporter' meant you should try and encourage your team to do better no matter whats happening on the pitch Atmosphere was okay last night, but felt we could of picked up the team a bit ibetter n second half with increased vocal support I love us to be known as a passionate/mad lot who sing our hearts out no matter what the perfomance. Would be more fun as well Chris :Blues: |

Was it full house? No. So please explain how reducing the number of women and children would help when seats are still available for more men to attend. |

The Kop corner blocks 18 /19 are dead ....They don't move sing Most don't even stand at the beginning when the lads are coming out on the pitch In fact i think most are there to moan for the full 90 Min's and slag the team off |

12 Irish lads went over. 3 Tri colours I could see. There are many, many bluenoses with irish backgrrounds. In years gone by Sparkhill, Moseley, Sparkbrook and Hall Green had very strong Irish connections. Not forgetting Digbeth , where most Bluenoses have a beer before or after a home match is the Irish Quarter of Brum, which only the day before held the biggest St. Patricks day parade in The UK. |

Exactly what I was trying to get at. Well put. But I do realise that the grand majority of Blues fans couldn't give a **** about Ireland and Paddy's Day. Still thought the atmosphere was rubbish, though. |

Does this mean an end to the 'let's make it a cauldron of noise' threads then? Let's face it, the atmosphere has gone when the terraces went. Genuine Bluenoses used to still sing even when we were 4 or 5 nil down, unlike the prawn sandwich brigade we've got now, along with every other Prem club. |
