My thoughts are
Derby down
Fulham down, too far behind considering they have an atrocious away record.

Bolton - even now they look too good and have too much quality.
Reading - they are playing as the Reading of last year again.
Wigan - Steve Bruce wins the important relegation matches.
Newcastle - they gave us hope (and a laugh) but in all reality they won't go down.

So it leaves Blues and Sunderland fighting not to finish 3rd bottom.

Im sure it will not just come down to us and sunderland, i understand your points but you obviously havent looked at boltons run in over the next 3 weeks, it will be out of a lot more teams than just 2 for 3rd from bottom trust me.

Bolton - even now they look too good and have too much quality.

They have four players that have scored more than once this season, without Anelka who is going to score for them? Then you have to take into account that they still have to play Arsenal in their remaining home games along with away trips to Villa, Spurs and Chelsea on the final day.

They're in the muck as much, if not more than ourselves, and we have both the points and goal difference advantage over them. Discounting Bolton from the relegation scrap is not wise.

Other than that, I don't think you are too far off.

When looking at other teams remaining fixtures it would be wise to see exactly when our rivals are playing the Big 4 as Champions League will soon take their priority especially if Man Utd increase their gap at the top.

Bolton playing Chelsea last game of the season is not the same as mid-season especially if Chelsea's thoughts are elsewhere. Classic examples West Ham beating Man Utd at Old Trafford last day last season and Blues beating Arsenal last day a few seasons ago.

na i think wigan will go down. Derby and fulham might aswell plan for championship life. Wigan are my choice for that other relegation place. I look back at the team we went down with, we had quility but no heart in my opinion. I'll never forgive nicky butt for some of the performances he put in. Considering he was earning £40,000 a week you would think he would put in a bit of effort. This team now looks dangerous,Zarate will make an impact once givin the chance and im 110% sure we wont go down :)

If Liverpool beat Arsenal in the Champions league, I think we play them between both their semi finals.

And by the same token if all three of the top sides can still win the league on the final day of the season (which is very possible), then Bolton, Wigan and Sunderland are in a hugely perillous position. At this stage it's impossible to discount any of the sides in the mix.

honest answer........

I think we will both go down but i'm hoping the boys make me look a complete idiot and prove me wrong. Sunderland dont have the depth or pedigree for the final push and imo we seem to be full of promise and expectation but always fall short.

Please prove me wrong boys, starting with reading.

Bolton seem to be the least "together" of all the relegation clubs and team spirit seems very important to me (when we went down, it was mostly due to the lack of team spirit). We have more of that this time, but a lot less experience. Which will be more important at the end of the day???? feed.back

Further up the table, we find Birmingham. The most in-form of the relegation candidates, they have come good at the perfect time. Taking points from Spurs, Arsenal and Newcastle in recent weeks has provided a vital basis for their final push towards mid-table safety. To put it simply, the Blues have momentum and that is key to avoiding being one of the teams looking for a way out when it comes to the last weekend of fixtures. Alex McLeish has done superbly when it has mattered the most and that looks set to continue. Although they have some testing fixtures ahead, the midlanders look the best value for survival of anyone below 15th position.

I don't know if this is Blue tinted spectacles, but we are the only one of the struggling clubs that have two forwards who could score (McFadden a dn Forssell if you are wondering) and some creativity as well (Zarate and Kapo) and an excellent dead ball specialist (Larsson). That is a lot of ammo. Can't say the same about any other of the bottom six.

My opinion might not be welcome on here but I was just checking my earlier post about Taylor.

I can see your point about Fulhams plight but if you look at our run in compared to others, we have a chance.
Newcastle A - They are shocking and low on confidence. Could win or lose 4-0
Derby A - If we dont win, we deserve to go down
Sunderland H - Dont think they have the players
Reading A - winnable
Liverpool H - between Champions league
Man City A - toughie
Birmingham H - 6 pointer?
Portsmouth A - Before the FA cup final

We are palying good football under Hodgson and have started to get some results lately. As you say, the away form is the key.
My heart says derby Sunderland and Newcastle.
My head isn't sure until Saturday evening

opininons are always welcome mate if they are not insulting etc. You make valued points and I think any two upto wigan can still go down. And any club can stay up. Its winning those games against clubs around us that is going to count. Andif we can pick up bonus points here and there also then prem next year. :banner:

Fulham could easily survive with there run in.

Bolton have the hardest run in so i would say they are in trouble. They will probably beat Man City

Sunderland Newcastle and Blues should all watch out for Fulham. Fulham will beat Newcastle.

The run in below

Having read the responses I have re-appraised my thoughts and believe it has gone from 1 of 2 to 2 of 4.

I have taken in the points regarding Fulham's "easy" run-in and have now not dismissed them and Bolton's tough run-in and have brought them back into the equation.

So it's two from Fulham, Bolton, Sunderland and Blues.

To our advantage - best goal difference and points "in the bag" over Fulham and Bolton.

To our disadvantage - do not get wins against those around us and the worst central defence in the league (bar Derby). Also lose Larsson or McFadden then we'll be f*****. You see, we have to, at a minimum, score 2 goals to win a game because of the defensive mess.

Our main advantage.

We score goals, we have the goal diference.

Bolton don't score goals.

They have to play 3 of the Big 4 still, and if they concede one won't come back.

If I was a Bolton fan I would be very worried.

well the bookies have it like this

derby 500/1 :LMAO:
fulham 4/9
bolton 10/11
sunderland 5/2
blues 3/1
reading and newcastle 4/1
wigan 8/1

as we all know the bookies dont get it wrong very often

anyway i decided to put £50 on us getting relegated because i figure that £50 is worth it if we stay up and £150 will pay for the drink if we get the chop :ph43r:

p.s. i never win bets so we are going to be safe **thumbup

Sunderland gain 3 points and Bolton gain 1 point.

Furthermore "to our disadvantage" mentioned above, we hit all four today - lost to a bottom six team, rubbish central defence, lost McFadden and would have needed 3 goals to have got a win.

Personally I think it's not looking too good.

Unfortunately, our fate was sealed in january when we didn't bring in a center-half. i honestly believe we would be able to stay up with one decent CH.
