as a team in open play the difference between us under bruce and mcleish is phenomenal

however
under Mr Mcleish 70% of the goals scotland conceded were from set pieces
70% of the goals blues have conceded this season have been from set pieces

there must be loads of analysis available about where and how goals are conceded with opta
and at professional level....................................

free kicks are tougher however a good centre half knows where the balls going by instinct and can drop off the line quicker to cover.....certainly noone should ever get a free header

corners i dont get personally there's a 12 yard area to defend
2 men on the post..man mark their key couple of players ( e.g a laursen , lescott )
and then zonal defend with the other 6 or 7 players
spend days with them in training if you have to attacking the ball from defensive positions and working on their 'spring'

you raise a very good point , but is that down to mcleish?

both us and scotland have poor defences so this might be the problem more than anything else.

kelly maik taylor and murphy are fine
we'ld certainly be in a different position with kk and upson at their peak

however the whole team defend set pieces
