The April issue of BLUES Magazine is in the shops now with exclusive interviews with Mikael Forssell, Stephen Kelly and Fabrice Muamba.
There is also a special feature by ex-Blues captain Ian Clarkson asking just how good is Mikael, an interview with 1970’s goalkeeper Dave Latchford and a look back to Blues’ Great Escape of 1982-83, while BRMB’s Tom Ross and BBCWM’s Paul Franks look at Blues’ nailbiting run-in.
Mikael Forssell chats about the importance of confidence, his hat-trick against Spurs, his well-known commitment on the training field, Blues’ chances of staying up and his injuries which, he says, have been exaggerated. “If you carry on thinking about misses, then that’s when you are dead and buried as a striker,” he says.
Stephen Kelly talks about his optimism that Blues will survive, the impact the new signings at Blues have made, about his international career and what it’s like facing Ronaldo. And, he looks ahead to the Villa game coming up next month and, as an ex-Spurs player, compares it to the London derbies.
In a five page interview with Fabrice Muamba, the magazine hears about his early life in the Democratic Republic of Congo, his season so far, how he’s coped with being a Premier League player as a teenager and his call-up to the England under-21s. “My job is to win the ball and drive the team forward. If I get on my opponent’s nerves, that’s good, it means I’m doing my job,” he says.
Ex-goalkeeper Dave Latchford chats about THAT FA Cup semi-final defeat to Fulham in 1975 and his time at Blues while another ex-player, Ian Clarkson takes an in-depth look at Mikael Forssell and assesses whether he is the best-ever finisher at St. Andrew’s.
There are features on the future of football, Blues’ hat-trick heroes and great wins with a man short while we go down memory lane to remember three of our greatest-ever sides.
There’s a special A3 pull-out poster to celebrate Mikael’s hat-trick against Spurs - Blues’ first ever in the Premier League - plus posters of Seb Larsson, Fabrice Muamba and Gary McSheffrey.
And Tom Ross and Paul Franks give their verdicts of Blues’ relegation battle ahead.
The magazine costs £2.95 and is available from the Club shop, your local newsagent or on 01225 899975 or you can buy on-line at www.bluesmagazine.co.uk.
