3 points :drink: good gritty perfromance just whats required in this division.

From some of the posts on this board i think quite a few people expect this league to be a breeze and wrong all of you who think like that are.

Whether it is 1-0 or 6-0 its still the same 3 points and if some people bothered to look Sheffield are a quality side full of players with Prem experience.

Ridgwell MOM :applause:

I guess some people are just not going to be happy :LMAO:

... Aluko not ready.

ALUKO JOINS SEASIDERS ON LOAN

Young Blues striker Sone Aluko has joined fellow Championship side Blackpool on a one-month loan.

The deal was completed on Friday afternoon but the two clubs agreed to keep it under wraps until 2pm today so that the Seasiders could spring a surprise ahead of their opening game at home to Bristol City.

The 19-year-old goes straight into Simon Grayson's squad for the visit of the Robins to Bloomfield Road this afternoon.

Aluko spent a successul loan spell at Aberdeen last season.

yeah Ridgewell deserves a mention, played well in the game and stopped a good oppurtunity on goal. Mcfadden looked a class above everyone else which is great to see, wont be long before hes on the score sheet i would expect

McFadden did nothing until he was on the wing.
He seems to trip over the ball more often than dribbling with it.
Trouble is McFadden and Bent are not goal scorers.
Not sure they will play together.
Jerome added urgency to the team, as he usually does.
Possibly he should be on the wing instead of McSheff?
Larson was extremely disappointing. You can't always be great I suppose.

Stats for the game according to skysports:

Goals: 1-0
Shots on: 5-4
Shots off: 3-2
Corners: 6-6
Offside: 2-4
Yellow: 2-1
Red: 0-0
Fouls Won: 10-23
Fouls Conceeded: 23-10
Possession: 50%-50%

I wouldn't have Jerome starting on the wing myself, think just an off performance by mcsheffery, he played some good balls, think he deserves to start next game all the same

Jerome played well as cover for Larsson last season on the right wing too, but perhaps only for one match, likewise he did well in that position against Fulham last week, setting up Larsson's goal. Coming off the bench he can be an impact player, really roughing up the opposing full back with his power and speed, but I wouldn't like to see him starting in that position.

McS really does need to get his act together, 90 minutes against Wycombe on Wednesday might help a bit, but he needs to start 'spotting' the pass/cross.

Roll on Quincy as an alternative...

All in all, I must say I don't think either team deserved to win it. Sheff Utd were very strong defensively and I think when they get Beattie back they could do well this season.

Agreed, i'm glad we lucked our 3 points against them early on. Seemed to have some good players on the bench too.
