I'm not even sure what he's trying to say.

I think he means, he wants a 1 year contract with 5 times the wages he would get?

Surely not?

No, no correct me if your wrong birmingham200, but I interpreted it as Larsson wants the wages he'd get over 5 years (which is reportedly £4000 a week x 52 weeks = £208,000 per year x 5 years = £1,040,000)
Meaning that he wants £1,040,000 in one year with us, meaning he wants a weekly wage of £20,000

I interpreted it as Seb wants the wages he'd get for signing a 5 year contract - e.g. 20k - but on a one year contract. If he were to be offered a one year contract the wages offered would be, presumably, much lower.

Then pay it. we have paid far worse players far more over the last few years.

Indeed.
I dont see to big a problem paying Seb £20k a week.

I dont see the whole 1 year contract thing as even Seb would know we wouldnt do that at all, no club would.

Its the fact he just wants a £16k payrise a week, for however long a contract he'd be on, 3/4 probably.

I dont have no problems tying Seb down on a £20k a week deal for 3/4 years.
Forssell was on £25k a week, and Kapo was probably on a decent chunk too around £25k-£30k a week, which means we do have some money there for Seb
McFadden will be on that, if not more, as will Carsley and probably even Phillips so why shouldnt our official best player from last season be one of our higher earners.

What info?
The fact he wants 5 years pay in 1 year?
I have no idea but birmingham200 seems to think so, so I was explaining what I thought he meant.

Championship - Larsson wants Blues exit
Sebastian Larsson has told Birmingham he wants to join a Premier League club.

More StoriesMore Championship news
The Sweden international was part of the Blues squad which slipped out of the top flight on the final day of last season.

And unwilling to spend the 2008/09 campaign in the Championship, the former Arsenal midfielder has urged Alex McLeish to allow him to leave.

Blackburn and Newcastle are rumoured to have shown an interest and Larsson hopes a deal can be reached before the close of transfer window.

"I want to play on the highest level," he told Sportbladet.

"I hope it will be resolved. There are three weeks left of the transfer window.

"I have got a new contract proposal from Birmingham, but I am not interested in that.

"I have got two years left on my current deal. I am not the kind of player who creates a lot of trouble.

"But somewhere there has to be some respect between the club and the player. Of course it would be better if I played in the Premier League."

GUESS THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN POSTED BUT AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED HE CAN S.O.D OFF ASAP

If I had just been voted player of the season by a country mile, was highly rated by most PL managers, stood a good chance of loosing my international place due to relegation and was on 4K a week I would want to leave too.

At very least we have to offer him what he is worth - I am a strong believer in performance related pay and for our board to stick to the relegation clause in his contract whilst stating he will leave over their dead bodies is hardly going to help.

Some very average footballers are on 30K a week in the EPL and Frank Quedrue is allegedly on 20K a week right now - that is the same Quedrue Sullivan said was a waste of money. If we expect Seb to stay then we have to at very least offer him a new contract on a decent whack putting him in line with the top earners at the club - with a big pay rise on promotion.

I know 4K a week to most of us would be a massive amount of money but in footballing terms even in the championship it isn't very much at all.

The premise of this whole thread is total nonsense.
He has been offered a new contract and has not signed it, he has said himself that he is not interested.
He is not interested in us, he just wants to play for another struggling Premiership club and if they go down he will not be interested in playing for them either.

This talk of 4 grand a week is an utter crock of.....
That's the contract he signed but he has been offered another - better one.

So please, stop saying we should offer him a better contract because we have done.

Do you have a link to this article,

Don’t always know what to believe is true in situations like these but was not impressed with his performance yesterday. Whether he having an off day just showing his displeasure at being at a championship side, who knows. I agree he should be offered a improved contract and maybe as much as 16k a week but he should also be professional in both performance and attitude, if he has thrown his dummy out the pram there are plenty of other players that could come in and do a job for the team and at 4k a week and 2 plus years left on his current deal I'm sure he could learn a lesson in to the reserves. The only other option would be to accept a half decent offer and get rid.
I would apologise gladly If none of this is true and he genuinely just had an off day but I wouldn't want a player who is not committed to the team I love wearing the colours of are club over anyone’s dead body and you can quote me on that.

Larsson wants to leave. The way he played v Sheff United he should be left in the reserves and held to his contract. Very disappointed in his attitude. He has been offered a new contract to bring in him line with top wage earners I would imagine.

If he wants to leave then he should be a man and write a transfer request out and give it to AM, not nide behind an agent but so far he has said nothing.

He is currently on 4K a week - that is not an "utter crock" oh wait a minute you contradicted yourself with your following sentence no need for me to go any further.

The 4K a week relegation clause should never have been activated, someone at the club should have been smart enough to say look we want you to stay so as a show of good faith and because of your efforts last season we are leaving you on your existing wage we also have this shiny new extended contract which we would like to offer you that guarantees a big pay rise on promotion.

What they did by enforcing the relegation clause was punish our best player of last season - all agents care about is money so his agent will have told him to quit. This situation could have been handled a lot better by a club that is trying to keep its prized assets.

Of course he wants to play at the highest level what sort of professional footballer doesn't but our club has called him a prized asset and then treated him like journeyman.

Which is exactly what they've done funnily enough.
