Have always though Taylor is one of the best ive seen at Blues but yesterday his kicking was a great improvement, he also threw the ball out well , hes obviously been working on that area of his game, for me a model pro and one of the best goalies in English football.

have to admit the saves i saw him do seemed great, and everyone has been complimenting his kicks now, did anyone see how confident he was on corners? that was a problem last year

Ive noticed him improving, ever since we got that new goalkeeping coach in when Spink left to go up to Wigan.
Can only benefit us for the season.

His kicking was awful yesterday, he wasnt getting it to any of our players and well really it isnt hard to throw a ball 10 yards, although has definately improved and is an excellent keeper

Keep Right On :Blues: :Blues:

I'm one of his biggest critics but yesterday he seemed a different player. I knew he was a good shot stopper but he claimed a few crosses and he got the ball out quickly to players. He even threw the ball to the defenders a couple of times!!!

More of the same please Maik :banner:

I though he was really good. the crowd showed their approval too when he was throwing balls out quickly to start off attacks. I think he looks in great shape. One of the best shot stoppers around no doubt.

He seemed to manage alright for KP''s goal. Straight down the field onto O'Connor's head, laid off to KP, back of the net.

Best assist of the season so far!!

Ditto. Spink was a waste of space imo, far too overweight to be a pro coach. Taylor has got better and better with the new coach

I have been screaming for Taylor to throw the ball out more for at least two seasons now.

It was refreshing to see him bowling the ball out instead of blasting it long.

Were you watching the same game as me? How many times did he find bent's head. Nearly every ball that he sent down field.
He had 1-2 wayward deliveries that’s all; I guess some people only remember the Ones that were of target.

Much of this requires having players showing for him. Too often in the past he would receive the ball, look for an option and not find one. On Saturday he had both Murphy and Parnaby (and occasionally McSheffrey and Larsson) immediately looking for space.

I think it has something to do with the new coach watson cus when I was down the training ground on thursday they were training seperately from the rest of the squad and the coach was really pushing all the goalkeepers and being really vocal with them. He even swore at them when they did things wrong. It was very refreshing to see that cus every other time ive been there when spink was there I dont think he ever said anything to them. Even Doyley looked kn@ckered after they finished.
Well done Watson **thumbup

Well, I agree that Taylor would have found Bent's head if the striker had judged the flight correctly.

Taylor did look safer compared with last season. Hope it continues.

Agree with garconsavage, it may not have been 'pretty or fancy' in a 'continental' way but was a classic english goal, boot down field, lay off, fantastic finish - I didn't reall notice how many utd players were around him until I saw the goal on tv after - he squeezed the ball through a hole the size of...well...something very small!

(Off topic I know but was awesome to see Bennett walk past also, class keeper, took me back a few years)

This is all part of the new AM regeme of passing instead of hoofball. Throwing the ball out installs a sense of keepball instead of the lottery of hoofball. Also a well judged kick with seconds to go by Maik was instrumental in the goal. At that time in the match there was little point in a throw to Parnaby or someone else for the whistle to blow before crossing the half way line.
He also made a few good saves by good positioning thereby making them look easy.
Well done Maik.
