Does anyone else really rate Mehdi Nafti? I've gotta be honest, I had been sceptical of him when he first joined but I think he's top class now! I'm not fussed about us selling Muamba because I think Nafti is just as good and Carsley is better! Maybe Muamba will be better as he's only young, but for the time being, i don't think we're missing out

what do you guys think of him?

he is a player that gets better each game, and maybe the most committed to his team.
a really good performance yesterday, and with nafti and carsley in midfield, you don't really need muamba in your squad.

The lad brings a calmness to the midfield and a bit of composure which is needed. I rate him highly if im honest

The only critism i got is that he cant pass the ball for s**t, very poor passing ability.

Dont get me wrong i like him but in the middle id go for Carsley and someone who can pass and has got vision because Nafti and Carsley are too alike which means we have no playmaker in the middle.

Whats this myth about him not being able to pass, he's more than compitent at passimg and a hell of alot better than Muamba for the past 2 seasons but everyone thought the sun shined out of Muambas

Yesterday, pretty much every ball that he passed further than 15 yards, or any pass that wasn't rolled along the floor, went straight to Sheff Utd. Other than that, he was pretty damn good yesterday. Linked really well with Carsley. You could see that when one wanted to break forward (which we could do with seeing more of this season), the other would sit back. Worked really really well.

A very underrated player, he makes the simple pass and makes himself availiable for the pass. A CM of him and Carsley is by no means the most attacking, but if you want to keep possesion they can do the job better than most. It could work a treat for us only if the two wide men are on form though.

Another thing I like about Nafti is that he is always the first one out of the area when defending a corner, he closes the man down quicker than anyone.

did you watch the same game as me yesterday. His passing was woeful. He can only play a ball sidewards or backwards. We need a player with carsley so bad. I thought carsley was ok but them two in same= no creativity

I am also of the opinion that Nafti has got a hell of a lot better over the last few years.

Played alongside an attacking midfielder, Nafti really commands the defensive side of the midfield. My only problem with him is that he needs to improve on picking out forward and constructive passes rather than just sideways and backward ones.

But clearing up infront of the back four - he's really imposed himself as the best DM at the club.

he is nowhere near as good as you say he is and is not a good passer but he is certainly dedicated to blues, hell do until Agustien comes in

I have been defending the bloke for 2 1/2 years he is not the most talented footballer in the world but he gives his all for every second he is on the pitch and plays with real pride in the shirt. There are far worse holding midfielders out there.

He just became a scapegoat for people who didn't like Bruce's tactics - once McLeish came along and replaced Bruce's rubbish idea of two holding midfielders and two wingers with the brilliant idea of two holding midfielders and two wingers some fans actually started to rate him on face value instead of criticizing him for not being creative enough out of blind prejudice.

Does my head in how everyone slags him off, imo a very good midfielder who never lets the side down & wears the shirt with pride.

While he will never be the greatest going forward, he is very good in the DM role. Not quite as good as Carsley but miles better than Johnson.

The only thing that gets me with Nafti is ability to get wide out to the wing is negated by passing it two yards behind the playing and losing the momentum. I thought we looked better when McSheffery went off though.

I know everyone is entitled to an opinion and everyone sees different things, but I really do struggle with people that rate Nafti. I watched the match again on sky and it seems that every time he receives the ball he looks for the centre half or the full backs..............when he's really adventurous he'll even play it square, but as the post above says, it's usually behind the player. He alslo has the regular habit of playing one of his back passes too lightly, normally allowing the opposing centre half to nip in and get a shot away.......the defence must cringe when he gets the ball..........I know I do :LMAO:

He would do, but we can't have 2 defensive midfielders.
Carsley was even better yesterday, but Nafti will get his chances. Carsley will not play every game.
Until Agistein is fit, they are the best two for the job.

And it is sooo good not to have Muamba not in the team for all his effort and tackling qualities.

Well i dont rate him!

When he receives the ball he just passes it back to the player who has passed to him, or goes sideways,he has no vision,no skill and doesnt score enough goals (if any)..

He is a liabilty and if we keep playing him we can forget about promotion. He was out of his depth in the premiership and is out of his depth in the championship..

Its like watching a taller version of damian johnson minus the hair with a sun tan!

Besides if he was any good Bruce would have come and got him!

He's the sort of player that you only appreciate the value of when they're not there anymore. Yes he more often than not plays the simple ball, but he more often than not retains possession and allows a move to develop. I see absolutely no problem with that. He has a good engine, makes some vital challenges in the middle of the park and on Saturday he and Carsley were far more imposing than imposed upon in the centre of midfield.

Sheffield United went with a battler and a more "creative" player in pairing Speed with Tonge. I have to say I barely remember Tonge touching the ball.

If that's the case I'd get a game in the middle of the park for Blues....

I'd like you to go one on one with Nafti, see how much skill, commitment, vision and skill he hasn't got....

.....how did he ever make it as a professional footballer!!!

It must have only crossed that's for sure........or simply passed you by......

How you can possibly think he is that bad is beyond me, he's a professional footballer because he's made the grade..... He's a very good footballer indeed, granted he's not world class but he can hold his own in the Premiership (he does the job that makes it easier for other players to play) just because he's not a flair player doesn't mean he's rubbish.....

......I do wonder sometimes if people do actually watch the games they attend......or they turn up and just get on the backs of certain people because they over heard someone in the pub saying they don't rate them and then follow suit...... Mc Sheff is getting the same treatment at the moment, I thought he was poor for the first 25 minutes but got better as the game went on even after his first touch a few people around me were shouting general rubbish about him......

......I really don't understand some peoples logic.......
