'I have got two years left on my current deal. I am not the kind of player who creates a lot of trouble.

'But somewhere there has to be some respect between the club and the player. Of course it would be better if I played in the Premier League.'

FFS what the hell does he mean there has to be respect between club and player. We have shown him enough respect by offering him an extended contract to the one that he still has with us for two more years. I get p****d off with these players that are happy to sign a contract when the going is good. I can understand that he wants to play in the top division, who wouldn’t but he has to knuckle down like the rest of the team and get us out of this division at the first attempt. I am sorry but I don’t subscribe to this you can’t keep an unhappy player at a club scenario. I would hate it he left as he is our best player, however if he wants respect I would keep him for a year and if we don’t get promoted we can then sell him and still get a decent fee for him.

They're the exact same words used by his agent to try and cause a stir a month back, I highly doubt Larsson ever actually said them.

Don't believe what you read in the papers.

read Tim Sherwoods article about Berbatov the weekend........get rid of the bad apple, there is no loyalty from club or player anymore...loyalty is for the fans and only the fans.

Settle down now, it's all negotiation hype. Let's hope it turns out right, and soon, we need Seb, but we need him committed.

I think you will find that Larsson said this all right. I am disappointed with his attitude. He has a new contract offered he is popular at Blues and he is a regular. He is not a top class PL player as he lacks pace and strength especially away from home. We have no need to sell him. He should get on with it and stop moaning.

I agree.

He can only be wanting to leave us for more money becaase the Premier suitors would be from outside of the Top 4 and aspiring four (Spurs / Man City / Portsmouth / Everton)

If he was asked 50 questions he could of responded in that way yes but i bet his agent has made the people interviewing him leave a lot of positive comments out. we have not had a bid and he has not put a transfer request in so he is a birmingham city player anyway. we shouldnt try to read too much into this cr*p

Of course playing in the Premiership will be better for him. He has just broken into his national squad and doesn't want to lose out.

On top of that his agent is trying to force a big pay-day for himself. As far as I am aware its the agent making all of the waves and that quote is exactly what the agent said recently. Word for word.

Agents control football these days. Nobody else. If they want a bonus they push for a transfer. Larsson has not been directly quoted at any point. Until he is I will not level criticism at him. I can only assume that McLeish would not allow him a starting place if he was performing for a move away.

He would be better served showcasing his skill with blues this season; Blues will be on the TV more this season than if we were in the premiership. He can really make a name for himself and then when we are promoted use his confidence and ability to really push blues on. If he is as good as we think he is he will be sold to a top flight club and really earn some money. Blues will be rewarded with a big transfer fee and all parties will be happy.

He could otherwise go to a Blackburn and sit on the bench for half a season and get the odd run out.
He needs some decent advice and mine to him right now would be change you’re Agent.

Larsson will be far better off playing for us rather than sitting on a Premiership Bench. He wants to break into the national side as a regular, he won't do that if he isn't playing.

If he wants to go let him. If he doens't want to go and its his agent that does let him stay. But theirs nothing worse having a player in the dressing room who doesn't want to play for the club.

Birmingham co-owner David Sullivan claims midfielder Sebastian Larsson owes the club a 'season of loyalty'.

Quote:

"We have the highest respect for him, that is why we've offered him a new contract, doubling his money, despite the fact that he's got two years left on his existing contract and we have a two-year option at the end of his existing contract.

That puts the ball clearly in Larson’s court, its up to him now to declare his intentions, I think it was a well written statement from the board clearly outlining there position without being antagonistic.

Marek Matejovsky of Reading has gotten into his national squad today (Czech Republic) which shows that it is possible for Seb to keep his place in the Sweden side.

Fredrik Ljungberg has also retired from international football following Euro 2008, so im sure it would be better for Seb to start every week here and play well, knowing hes the first name on our team sheet, rather than going elsewhere and potentially ending up on the bench

You'd probably end up selling Larsson for a knock down fee as if he plays the season out in the Championship, he won't be signing a new contract. So if Birmingham get promoted again, then Larsson will force them to sell him as he'd leave for nothing the following season.

I f i was Mcleish i would face to face him and ask him if he wants to play for the club and will give 100% if the answer to either is no then sell to the highest bidder.

Blues dont need this type of saga going on they should sort it immediately and if he wants to go then sell, one player is not bigger than the team and the overall goal of that team, if he dont want to be part of it then bye bye thanks for the memories.

I think there's a 2 year option after 2 years, so he wont be walking out the door for nothing in the forseeable future.

I understand where you are coming from but its about time club owners stood up to the blackmail dished out by some players and their agents. ie "I dont want to be here so I'm not going to put 100% so you'd better sell me." My view is different and that owners should make a stance, so congrats to Sully and co for making this stance with Larsson. I just hope that he doesnt sulk. If he does there's always the reserves.

My lad asked him outright after the game (just before some dozy twonk of a newsman smacked his car into Seb's Beemer) if he was staying, and he said he definitely was.

So that's that sorted then.

why would you leave a club favourites for promotion to join a mid-table premier league club, most of whom's fans will probably just say 'oh yeh he's that fella from birmingham, dno if he's any good'?

He's not quite premier league standard i think. Probably a bench player at somewhere like spurs.

He needs to either increase his ground speed or get a bit tougher. Can't believe they haven't tried to bulk him up given the amount of fitness coaches etc we have these days

I think that we can only ignore these comments for so long - or put them down as 'paper talk'.

No-one from the club has stated that these comments are untrue. The feedback from McLeish is that he is hopeful that he will stay. Hardly inspiring is it?

The message coming out of the club has always remained the same: he is not for sale. Whilst that remains the case the club have no need to come out and say anything.
