With Lee Martin still talked about (wide left) and OWA here and with Seb seemingly going is this where he will be played, after all it was tried in Austria?

How about McSheff on the bench?

It's not a pointless knocking post, but seriously, the guy isn't good enough to be in our first team.

Don't forget this is the guy who's goals got us up a cuople of seasons ago ,give him a break,if you want to hammer someone try WANTAWAY Larson, not someone giving his all for the cause, one game gone 3 points in the bag against a team who will be in the top 6 at the end of the season,2 new exciting midfield\attackers to come into the squad,a new centerhalf on his way this week ,and still you want to have a go at mcsheff, :banghead: just so we know who did you play for ?

Just got back into the office today after the game and was talking to my boss (who supports Pompey so has no allegiance to Blues or Sheff Utd!) about the game on Saturday. He said it was one of the most boring games he'd ever seen  but he also said "I know you were knocking that McSheffrey guy last season but I thought he was doing alright for you. Got a few crosses into the box that no-one was on the end of and seemed to be trying quite a bit".

Quite a surprising comment I thought.

Can people please forget his form nearly TWO YEARS ago?

It's current form that gets you onto the team sheet, and quite frankly I'm fed up of the fact he hasn't got the balls to try and take on players down the left hand side. That's his job, but instead he bottles it and passes backwards.

He is the weak link within the team and even though I really do hope he can recapture his old form, I see no signs of it happening.

maybe something to do with having the instinct coached out of him and spending 18months supporting poor left backs :banghead:

I thought sheff played ok on saturday anyway, he put a couple of brilliant crosses into the box , all he needs is a goal or two from open play and he will be fine , i think people go over the top about how bad he is playing when in reality he is not doing that badly at all.

I don't think he did that badly on Saturday either. I just thought Sun Jihai was too good for him.

Trouble is he has been poor for 18 months including the last time we was at " his level" he was very poor Saturday and he has been for a long time, 3 or 4 decent games a season doesn't IMO warrant a place in the starting 11.

two seasons ago is no good to us now though is it? by your logic we should play players who were good a few seasons ago?? sorry but his current form doesn't warrant his place at present.

All it takes is for McSheffrey to get a couple of goals and good performances again, and all these people who are now knocking Mcsheffrey will soon change the opinion saying he is the best thing since sliced bread. FFS give the guy a chance we only 90mins into a season and we are knocking our players already. For as long as he wears the Royal Blue shirt he will always get my full support the same as any player who wears it and plays for our beloved team. KRO

I think one and a half years is quite a long period for him to prove himself again.
