C.Doyle-7 Not to much to do, but looked comfortable and mad a good save in the second half. L.Ridgewell-8 Did not let much passed him, won most headers and he didn't make any mistakes! S.Parnaby-7 Played quite well and made some good attacking runs. D.Merphy-6 Did his job..nothing special. M.Taylor-7 out srenthed the oppisiton and played well even with his head injury. S.Larsson-7 With the exception of an awfull corner in the first half he played fairly solidly all round and made a few good runs and scored a nice goal. L.Carsley-6 Picked up lose balls and cleared up after the defence however his long balls wernt very accurate. M.Naft-8 Great first goal for the club, played simple good crosses and did well getting forward. G.McShaffrey-5 Overall a poor game, lost posestion alot and his final ball was poor. G.O'Conner-9 Great workrate and assists, he looked powerfull and strong all game and his pace was amazing compaired to last season, all he lacked was a goal. Doyle 7 Kicking iffy, good saves Parnaby 8 Possible motm, excellent Taylor 7 Solid Ridgewell 7 See above Murphy 6 was decent for 45mins Larsson 4 Very poor for 6-70 mins, I'd have given him a 1 until he scored, he then came to life Carsley 7 solid Nafti 7 Great finish for goal, decent passing Mcsheffrey 5 Lively, but clueless O'Connor 8 Best player on the pitch, really really pleased for him Phillips 6 Didn't offer a great deal, but some neat touches Subs Quedrue 5 did little Jerome 7 Looked strong, great finish Quincy 7 Good first impression, class goal!!! |

Yes I agree, especially with the rating for Gary O'Connor - He set up 2 goals, won countless numbers of flick ons, totally bullied the defence, linked up well with the midfield (in particular for Sebs goal) and looked a completely different player to the one we had last season! Well done to the lad and long may it continue :applause: |

Quedrue was no worse or better than Murphy. Yes some of his passes were wayward but he was attempting attacking passes and no safe slow five yard efforts. I am of the opinion that Quedrue could score a hat-trick clear 3 off the line and people would still slag him off. As a backup LB and CB he's pretty damn good and bet most other teams in the CCC would gladly have him in their side. |

Doyle - 7: Quiet game but made the save when called upon. Questionable distribution at times. Parnaby - 8: Excellent going forwards and kept out the threat at the other end both at right back and when drafted into the centre. Taylor - 8: Won everything in the air and didn't give McGleish a sniff. Ridgewell - 8: Commanding performance and error free. Murphy - 6: Tried to get forward but nothing seemed to be happening for him. Larsson - 6: Again not at his best but took his goal well and seemed more involved afterwards. Nafti - 8: Excellent performance. Got forward well, sprayed some great passes across the pitch and forwards and took his goal very well. Carsley - 7: Solid display, kept things ticking over and ensured plenty of cover when Wycombe broke. McSheffrey - 6: Put in some decent crosses but also wasteful at times. O'Connor - 9: Excellent display. Did Phillips' running for him, won plenty in the air, caused a constant headache to the Wycombe defence and walked away with two assists and a big part in the third. Man of the match. Phillips - 6: Quiet night for KP, linked the play quite well but didn't offer much in the way of a goal threat. Subs: Queudrue - 6: Struggled to combat Grant on the right at times and looked slightly out of sorts at times. Mostly looking for fitness. Jerome - 8: Very good. Looked like he meant business from the moment he came on. As Don Goodman noted, it was a much, much more difficult chance than he made it look. Great goal. Quincy - 7: Lost possession a few times and looked a little rusty at others, but showed glimpses of explosive pace, plenty of tricks and a fantastic goal. Rounded the night off beautifully. Overall performance, somewhere between a 7 and an 8. The passing was not quite as crisp as one would hope for, but another clean sheet is an encouraging sign, and four goals (all of which were impressive in their own right) is cause for optimism. |

would have to agree with you there, never liked him as a LB either, played well as a centre back though, just seemed abit rusty, but a good one to have on the bench |

Geat to see that you are starting to witness the Garry OConnor we all knew and loved at Hibs. Hopefully McLeish will give him a run in your team now, I think Garry could be deadly for you in the championship - good luck with the season. **thumbup |

Spot on :applause: I noticed Nafti's forward pass as well, possibly his best ever game in a Blues shirt.........a real night for the lesser players as GOC really came alive in the 2nd half and deserved his man of match award. Areal plus for me was the hunger of Jerome when he came on.......as on saturday, he turned a measured calculating performance by the team into a much more "up and atem" performance........he is the only player in this squad with pace and power...........must start with GOC against Southampton......he runs defenders ragged! |

He's looking the part now I must say. OK it was against lower league opposition but you can only beat what is i front of you and some of his awareness of his team-mates was top notch. I liked the little lay off for Parnaby for the 3rd goal. Towards the end he did look a bit desperate to get on the scoresheet, he tried a little too much but I think he has earnt himself another start on Sat. I missed most of the first half but we looked pretty comfortable throughout, we was under the cosh for about 10 mins but that happens in every game. We turned our chances into goals and that is what will get us promotion and hopefully a cup run :banner: |

Shows what you know.......Taylor is known as a shot stopper, it's his command of his area at set pieces that lets him down.........many managers and pundits have acclaimed him for his shot stopping ability, infact many whos judgement I would gladly value over yours..........it's like a Spanish Inquisition on here when some fans get a bee in their bonnet over certain players.............they will never earn praise no matter what they do. :banghead: |

Just back from the game, Quedrue was fine on the night, did everything he needed to. When you are as much on top as Blues were your backs don't have a fat lot to get worked up about. Carsley was superb tonight, the rest were pretty good against ordinary opposition, or did we just make them look ordinary. At some point you have ot give Blues credit for what they achieve. the only player who struggled was McSheff again, I wish he'd get over whatever it is. Great away fans, the songs were continuous and inventive. The best came late on, after Abeyei's goal. He plays on the laft He plays on the right That boy Quincy Makes Kapo look poore. (what a strange interpretation of the word that I wrote, but partly blanked, that rhymes with right) Very amusing, and true. He looks class. Oh, one last point. I was delighted we treated Wycombe with the right level of respect, and that we came out and battled properly from start to finish, and got the deserved result for doing both things right. Well done Alex Mc. |

Sorry mate but that's the BEST and furthermore most CLASSIC contradiction ever posted on here The ones that criticise Quedrue's performance (the majority from what I read) are stupid except the ones (the very few) that agree with you..........and then you have the cheek to call the first bunch 'one sided ' .....Too funny for words :LMAO: More importantly it is good to see most of the fringe players give Mcleish a selection headache for the upcoming games and that is EXACTLY what is needed in this division.........Players giving it more than 100 per cent and playing for their places Colin Doyle...........REAL threat to Maik Taylor Stuart Parnaby.......If he keeps playing so well he may keep Kelly out Mehdi Nafti ......He must know Kemy Agustien and Jordon Mutch are knocking Garry McSheffrey.....must now be worried about the presence of Quincy Cameron Jerome and GOC - This is the one that will give Mcleish some sleepless nights............Will they keep Bent,MacFadden and Phillips on the sidelines for Saturday ?? Seb Larsson......another quiet game for him from what I've read and I still believe we may still bring another right sided or central midfielder before the TW closes...this can only benefit us long term plus there's no secret I think McLeish accepts he needs another central defender ...probably a loan from a PL club or one in Europe .....Sebbo is a quality player but is he really 'focused' right now ??? REAL competition and fight for places in the 1st team...............Has been a long time since I've been able to say that Great times could be coming :applause: it's up to each and every player :banner: |
