Ok...I think I get it now Thanks for straightening that out But on the other hand if Boateng does well for us.....We could still sign him permanently in January But of course it would allow other clubs to go after him too That is the downside ----------------- |

we could arrange a pre contract agreement after a month if we wished. if he does come to us on loan i think he would see it as an opportunity to showcase his ability and engineer a move back to germany in jan. |

You can only be loaned to clubs outside the top flight in your own country. |

No1BlueNose I have another question about the loan system then Ben Watson of Crystal Palace is currently with another Championship club obviously.....a player we've been linked with many times in recent months Is it still possible to sign another player from the same league on loan with this 'emergency' 3 month system ??? feed.back |

As far as i'm aware it is. Like you though, i've tried searching the net for information but there seems to be little about. I thought the football league website would explain it but can't see anything on there either. |

McLeish last night ran the rule over potential loan signing Kevin-Prince Boateng, who was at Villa Park playing for Spurs reserves. The midfielder couldn’t help his side to victory, however, Villa won 1-0. http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-s...97319-21708710/ Here is a match report from the spurs website... Taarabt sounded lively in this and another report i read of the match http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/artic...eway080908.html Ressies push Villa all the way The only goal of the game on 23 minutes settled the contest in favour of Aston Villa as our reserve side fell to a first defeat of the season at Villa Park on Monday night. It turned out to be an unfortunate own goal that determined the destination of points and, despite a second half rally, Villa held firm and won the night. Marlon Harewood drilled wide on five minutes as he attempted to put his experience and power to effective use in a Villa side that contained a liberal sprinkling of players with a Premier League pedigree. The man many of the locals had come to have a glimpse at was Carlos Cuellar, the recent recruit from Rangers at a reported £8m, who has yet to feature at first team level due to injury. He was partnered by Zat Knight at the back, while there was a familiar face on the Villa right in Wayne Routledge. Chris Herd was next to fire just wide of the upright on 19 minutes as the home side pretty much dictated the tempo of the encounter with some lively wing play. Three minutes later Villa took the lead in fortunate circumstances. A Zoltan Stieber corner fizzed through a crowd of players and sat up nicely for Herd to take a potshot on goal. Ben Alnwick made a superb reaction block, but the ball diverted onto the knee of David Hutton, who was on post duty, trickling over the line and into the net. Isaiah Osbourne then rattled the crossbar before, in the moments before half-time, Routledge sped through on goal and should have scored, but poked wide of Alnwick's right hand post. Harewood burst through in a similar fashion before the whistle sounded with the same end result, albeit past the other post. Kevin Prince Boateng mounted a response at the other end, but shot wide in first half stoppage time. Adel Taarabt and Hutton combined to present Boateng with the first chance of the second period, the German teed up to shoot from the edge of the area, but opted for placement rather than power and planted wide of the post, Hutton carved himself out a chance on 56 minutes, this time opting for power and blasting over the crossbar. Whatever Clive Allen said at half-time certainly seemed to have an effect on his side as an, at best, lethargic first half display was replaced by an energetic and imaginative start to the second. Villa were pressed firmly on the back foot as the likes of Hutton and Andy Barcham injected pace into the team's efforts, supported by the unlikely source of Ricardo Rocha making sorties from the back. Adam Smith and Andros Townsend took the place of Takura Mtandari and Kyle Fraser-Allen on 65 minutes, both substitutes having enjoyed some first team exposure over the pre-season period. A breakthrough continued to prove elusive despite a far greater share of possession, with a Taarabt drive failing to really trouble Elliott Parish in the Villa goal with just over 15 minutes remaining. Villa appeared to have weathered a minor storm as we entered the final ten minutes and established a foothold back in the game. Clive sent on striker Alex Olsen in place of Rocha for the last six minutes in a late bid to salvage some reward from the night. It was not to be. |

I think that the loan system works like this: You can sign anyone on loan as long as: You are not going TO a Premier League club (you can go FROM a Premier League club) Both clubs must be in the English LEagues (not Scottish, Welsh, French etc) The deals are done before some date in November. Or you can sign out of contract players. Therefore, Balde could sign for us only if he is released from his contract and becomes a free agent. Ben Watson could be loaned to us, as could Boateng etc. Unfortunately, Ronaldinho can't. |

The Birmingham Post 'understands' that an agreement has been reached with Spurs but unlikely to be completed today. http://www.birminghampost.net/midlands-bir...65233-21805019/ |

I think with Naffty out for three games might help to speed up this dithering Board or Manager to go and sign Boateng pr even Watson. dose anyone know when the deadline for tuesdays game would be. |

whether we have seen KPB play or not he was voted young player of the year in Germany 2006 so on that basis he has pedigree. OK at Spurs he has had a nightmare. this means nothing as his opportunities have been limited and the change of manager hasn't helped. KPB or Quashie, it's KPB all the way as he's young and has something to prove. |

In the Birmingham Mail on Sat said although increasingly possible nothing was yet sorted because McLeish wants to speak to the lad first to make sure he wants to come and won't just fob it off. That was picked up by a few Sunday newspapers. I hope he comes because we desperately need a spark in the middle |

Alex wants at least 2 weeks to review Nigel Quashie and his fitness....he missed the whole of last season due to a niggling foot injury Just hope we can get KPB instead I wouldn't want us to sign relegation fodder....Quashie woiuld be the Kiss Of Death "no" ------------------------- |

He obviously aint sure about his character and wants to speak to him. Nothing wrong in that. If the board actually released some money to spend then we wouldn't have all this faffing about in the first place. Eck would have spent on his first choices like Kitson or Roberts for example instead of having to settle for Bent. I say get Boateng or give Mutch a run. |
