It used to be 5pm on a Friday for a saturday game, so i'd assume it would be 5pm this evening.

I keep asking myself why Spurs, bottom of the Premiership, wouldn't even give him a squad number.

Is he any good? Do we need him? Are there better players we should be looking at?

So many questions. So few answers.

Get real, the players you mention were players a lot of teams would want!

Boeteng has been an immense flop at Spurs, hence their reason for them not even considering him good enough for a squad number.

Some quotes about Boeteng:

Boateng signed for Tottenham Hotspur on 31 July, 2007, for a reported fee of £4.5million. He had his first start in the Premier League on November 3, 2007 against Middlesbrough F.C.. A series of first team performances ranging from bland to dismal left him consigned to the reserves squad, where he currently languishes, bereft of a senior squad number.

On 09 September 2007 Berliner Morgenpost reported that German National U21 Coach Dieter Eilts does not select Boateng anymore because of negative incidents that happened in the team's Camp during the June 2007 Toulon tournament in France.

I'm not being negative, I just feel that if we go for players I want them to be ones who will improve the team, and I'm not convinced that Boeteng would do that.

I would suggest that Cantona was far from a flop at Leeds, which is why Man Utd had such a battle to sign him??

As for Beardsley, I am assuming you mean Peter, yep that England flop worshipped by the Geordies. Can't ever remember him playing for the Mancs unless he was a teenager or something??

Might have been better to use some other alternatives to support your point!

:LMAO: Possibly one of the worst examples used in an argument ever.

Cantona won the League with Leeds!

Beardsley was at Man Yoo, but never made an appearance in the league.

But I get your point, people can be flops before they become good at other clubs.

If you don't get the crux of the point, then i'll have to explain as slowly as possible. There wasn't anyone queueing up to sign Steve Finnan when we let him go but he played in champions league games for the biggest club in europe. Most of us agreed that getting 1/2 million for AJ at the time was good business but he went on to play for england and yet no-one else came in for him. Boetang could become the same and to be fair you could say this about any signing we make. To take it further, villa paid a fortune for savo, who was terrible but he went abroad and was top scorer in I think the spanish league. Some signings work, others don't but dont start moaning before you've even see him play!!

How do you doubt he will contribute having not seen him play?

I saw Boateng play U19 football and thought he was going to make it as a top player. He stuck out like a sore thumb. Quality player.

I said the same of Arsenal's Denilson, Huddlestone, Kompany and Milevskiy who've all gone on to be promising players. Not sure if they all played in the same tournament, but I saw them all around the same time.

I will explain equally slowly, I don't give one about your point cause frankly it is hardly a revelation, yes some players go on to other clubs and do well and some don't...well knowing that has enriched my life I can tell you, in fact my whole understanding of football has now changed, if only you could have passed on your wisdom and insight to me forty years ago!!!

However my post was not questioning your rather obvious point it was saying that the two players you chose, saying Cantona was a failure at Leeds (Rubbish) and Beardsley was a failure at Man Utd (When, as a fourteen year old??) did not support your yes rather obvious point.

Also can't see how you can read into my post that I was moaning about Boateng, personally never seen him play, but as AMc has hardly raced to sign him there maybe something all of us don't know i.e. dodgy temperament etc.

Hope that has clarified everything...oh wise one < <

I think most people knew about those players (Denilson being captain of the U19s for Brazil, Huddlestone being linked to loads of different clubs, Kompany and his constant links to Arsenal.. dunno the other guy though?), same with Boateng. Admittedly, I only knew him from seeing his name and stats on a Fifa game  but his big move to Spurs kind of put the spotlight on him for a while.

Although, my mate who I imagine has seen him play more than you (Spurs season ticket holder) reckons he's not actually all he's cracked up to be. Or at least, he's not when he's playing against Premier League opposition.

Said he got played as a winger/attacking player for Spurs when attacking isn't exactly his best quality.

According to tonight's Mail one of the reasons for the delay is that two Bundesleague teams are interested in signing him at Christmas. FIFFA rules will not allow a player to play for more that three teams in a single season and Boateng doesn't want to spoil his chances of going back to Germany!!

If he takes this attitude when he meets Big Eck I think he will be told "to go forth and multiply!!"
