4-3-3/4-5-1 away = good 4-3-3/4-5-1 at home - bad |

Maybe. Although from the noises that McLeish has made, and from the uncharacteristic performances at home, I'm starting to wonder whether the argument about 'the pressure of playing in front of a hyper-critical St Andrews crowd' has some weight to it. I've never before been prepared to accept that players should be that affected by the odd 'moan' from the crowd - but you have to keep an open mind on these things. Certainly formation shouldn't be a factor. Chelsea play the same formation (as us) both at home and away, with some considerable success. Okay, they have better players all round, but that should be off-set by the quality of their opponents. I note though that they rarely thrash anyone. On the other hand they rarerly get thrashed. I'm not convinced by the tactical argument. |

West Brom did a similar thing last season. they adopted for 4-5-1 for away games and went with a 4-4-2 at home |

In all honesty they were hopeless before any moaning from the crowd against Blackpool |

I don't see why they shouldn't react positively to criticism from those who are paying their wages. In most walks of life, if you make a compaint someone does something to make it better. Why should footballers be any different? There was no excuse for the Blackpool performance after what happened at Ashton Gate |

What I have learnt is that McLeish/Aitken are numpties. Last season the right formula for home games was found, but they adopted it for away games as well. :banghead: This season they have found the right formula for away games and are now adopting it for home games. :banghead: When will they learn that football ain't that simple. Ask MO'N, he's only 10 minutes down the road. |
