For those with Sky it is worth remembering that you can get all the regional BBC and ITV programmes. It is worth searching the appropriate region listings for the team we play against as many have highlights (or more than just goals) as seperate programmes or extended features in their regional news programmes.

Technically, aren't Britain and the UK different things?

ie Britain is England, Scotland and Wales, but the UK is England, Scotland, Wales and NI

GB or Great (er) Britain is the four Home Countries. Has been since the 1920s and the creation of the Independent Irish Free State.Eire.

Britain is just a shorthand version of the same whereas the UK arose from a more PC attitude in the 1950's.After the coronation or WWll .

Thats the extent of my school history

How do you get the regional ITV programmes on Sky?

Doesn't UK mean the same as Britain. Britain just came from a shortened version of the "British Empire"

The British Isles are divided between two countries which are independent states in international law, namely 1) the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (so called since 1927) and 2) the Republic of Ireland. Unlike the states of the USA or Germany, or the provinces of Canada, the constituent parts of the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) do not have legislatures with their own areas of exclusive jurisdiction, and England has no legislature at all.

It is not possible to have a federation without a constitution prescribing the powers of the different levels of government, and the UK has no such instrument. The primary principle of our constitutional law is that the UK Parliament can do anything. The legislation which created the Scottish Parliament and the Welsh and Northern Ireland Assemblies carefully reserved power to the UK Parliament to legislate in all matters. The powers of the subordinate legislatures are devolved powers. So the UK is not a federation; it is a unitary state.

England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland have all been regarded for centuries as nations, and are still correctly referred to as such. This has nothing to do with legal status. England, Scotland and Ireland all were once Kingdoms, but no longer are (since 1707 in the case of England and Scotland, 1800 in the case of Ireland). Wales was not a Kingdom but a Principality, and is sometimes still referred to as such.

Concentric Circles
If, like me, you live in England, you are part of all of the following entities (listed in order of increasing size):

England
England and Wales
Great Britain
The United Kingdom
The United Kingdom and Islands
The British Isles
The Common Travel Area
The European Territories of the United Kingdom
The European Union
The United Kingdom and Colonies
The Commonwealth

I wrote this all out myself I did* :)

Thank god someone is on the same topic as me here.

I got SKY+HD & I live in Glos so I get ITV West but I managed to tune in ITV Central only downside to addding these channels is they are not in the channel menu so you have to go to your saved added channels (which is Services then other channels.) to view them

Anyway to add them click the Services button> System Setup> Add Channels then just fill in the relevent frequency settings etc (a full list of ITV regions setup is here) **thumbup ITV Region List and hey presto its done **thumbup Only takes a min and make sure you SAVE it otherwise you will have to keep adding the channell over and over lol But like I said to find it go to Services> and then other channels

Hope that helps and wasnt to complicated for you :banner:
