Yes, just heard the news I wasn't his greatest fan but Bowie had a huge cult following in Britain back in the early 70's particularly around the release of his Ziggy , Hunky Dory , Aladdin Sane and Diamond Dogs albums ....he must be considered one of the early pioneers of Glam Rock However I did like a lot of the music he wrote and performed and own many of his records/CD's 'Space Oddity' was brilliant, was often thought that it inspired Elton John to write Rocket Man .....I loved songs like 'John I'm Only Dancing' , 'Rebel Rebel' and 'China Girl' too Same age as our former defender John Roberts who was also 69 when he passed last week RIP Bowie  Posted Image |

For me, the Berlin era is the height of artistic achievement and creativity within modern music, and 'Low' is my favourite album of all time. The 'glam' stuff is perhaps understandably more famous because of the immediate social impact it had, but in terms of long-lasting musical influence, that album invented/influenced so much it's insane. For a man who only a few years earlier had been playing Starman to assimilate Kraftwerk, soul music, Brian Eno and Punk all at the same time and produce something so daring, so moving is incredible. It'd be like Adele coming back with a new record that was part Drum and Bass, part heavy metal and part Aphex Twin-style techno. It wouldn't happen because only Bowie had the skill to pull something like that off. By the way, let's not just dwell on the past. HIs newest album came out on Friday and mixes free-jazz with Gregorian chanting and computer beats. It's amazing! RIP a true, true legend! |

There was a good two page spread in The Sun on Friday about his new album which was an Interesting read. My fave Bowie song will always be Sound and Vision. My wife would say Life On Mars.. |

Bowie is my all time favourite. I grew up with his music which is probably why I always say Aladdin Sane and Hunky Dory are his best albums. The thing is though everything he turned to was sheer class. He changed genres, he pushed the boundaries and he was simply an artistic genius. I loved him and everything about him. A class act and a great bloke. RIP David |

I saw him live at Stafford Bingley Hall in 1978 A former girlfriend I was going out with was a huge fan so I offered to drive her up there Good concert in all honesty ......But I preferred Bad Company (with cameo appearance by Robert Plant) the following year The 70's , like the 60's and 50's were fantastic decades for music The pioneering eras one could claim **thumbup |

Nice turn out in Brixton last night by fans of is to say goodbye to possibly the UK's greatest ever artist. Whilst not a fan I can see that his talent and innovative quality meant that he was in a class of his own. I was told last night he is an occultist and avid follower of Aleister Crowley, I hope nothing too sinister comes out to tarnish his legacy. Rip DB. Edited by clapton bluenose, Jan 12 2016, 05:18 AM.
