That is the key to Babel's success in the future he was wasted on the right wing by the Raffagaffa at Anfield when the likes of Gerrard and Torres never utilised or played him in from what he is quoted as saying is his favoured central striking position. Ryan Babel is a versatile midfielder but the Ajax established right footed Left winger needs has to accept that he will be resourced for where the manager thinks he needs to play in the squad, on the proviso that the Netherlands international get the support from defence and midfield, who then can support which ever striker or established target man. Wouldn't shock me if this is true. Eck wants a man before China, wouldn't shock me if he put in a few bids in the next 24 hours. |

I heard this 'story' a couple days ago, I'm starting to warm to the idea of signing him TBH He is quality, my only concern would be the work ethic but maybe that'll change under Alex. Go get him..... :) KRO Matty |

Hope we us him via the media to gee up Wigwam to let Zoggy go **thumbup A player who does want to play for Birmingham City Football Club. |

Disagree. What Babels agent said in Jan was that Babel was open to a move to Birmingham, however Rafa convinced him to stay at Liverpool and said he would get more opportunities, which he did. Need to take off blue tinted glasses here guys, this guy is Dutch and holds no affiliation to Blues, in fact Blues are most likely not even on the radar of most Dutch players, however Liverpool are. If you were a young player would you prefer to stay at Liverpool with the chance of establishing yourself and playing Champions League football or move to a team, which is looking to establish itself in the Prem as it's first priority. Ask yourselves this, apart from Ajax and a few other Dutch teams you have seen on the telly playing in European football, what is your knowledge of other lower teams, same no doubt goes for Babel. |

Forget whether the guy is supposed to be lazy or not. AM has had plenty of time to do his due diligence and knock him into touch if he doesn't meet requirements. This story has wings. If Liverpool are willing sellers that's a definite step ahead of Wigan who don't want to sell N'Zobnia |

I didn't know whether to post this as it sounds outrageous, but yesterday I met the guys agent by chance. I was getting changed in my gym and I noticed this fella come in with claret and blue boxing wraps around his wrist. I asked him if he was a Wet Spam fan (I live in London), he said no and that it was just coincidence to which I replied as long as it wasn't the vile joking with him. We got talking about football as you do and it came out that I supported Blues, we carried on about how well we'd done last season and what this guy thought of Big Eck, (quite pro actually). At this point he mentioned that he was hoping to do business with Blues about Babel and said that he was his agent. I asked him about January and he said that Babel was interested in coming, wasn't a paricuarly greedy person but Liverpool and Rafa inparticular put the kickers on the deal quoting outrageous prices. I asked if there was any chance this summer, to which he smiled and said maybe as the two clubs were talking now about a new price (maybe lower) and that it had taken a while whilst Liverpool got Roy Hodgson in. Like I say just a guy I met in the changing rooms and he could be full of it but he's got no real reason to lie....apart from being a Londoner ;) I'm in two minds about the fella as a winger and as a striker. Quality but what we need? :Blues: |

Liverpool and Rafa or Liverpool and Roy Hodgson i can't see the price changing that much. Is he the player we want? No he is not if this is all we buy. yes if we are still getting other equally good players in. He won't make much of a difference on his own, he needs good players around him to perform |

He would be a good signing and definatly a step in the right direction, but I think it's clear to say we won't be signing anyone for at least 2 weeks now we're in china... Once again we r leaving it till the last min only to lose out and end up with a Taino! 81ues |

Most Dutch football fans will be aware of all of the Premier League teams because they have the[demand/U] and the desire to watch it, its the best league in the world. Is the Dutch league the best in the world? Would it warrant being shown in the UK? The answer is simply no so to make the insinuation that he would rather continue playing a fractional part in a declining Liverpool side than come to us way off the mark. |

As you've asked andy wood.....! :o As I've already posted on this lengthy thread some time before, Babel and his agent were open to a move to Birmingham when Ryan was disaffected at Anfield, but the Raffagaffa interviened and carpeted Babel who was made to commit to the prospect of a future at Anfield on the Raffa's promise to help him return to a first team regular place which he didn't really follow through with! From this we gat the fabric of the claim that Ryan Babel rejected Blues because the Raffagaffa lied to the press when questioned about Babel. Except for his first season at Liverpool when he showed all the promise to fulfill his £11.25Mil tranfer fee, the guy has never had a fair shake from the manager or the scoucer fans who always believed that the Raffagaffa was some kind of God! or any subsequently chance to perform to his best at Anfield. Big Eck knows this, and the potential of the versatile youing midfielder and I for one believe that he will get the best out of the Holland international who has an effective striking capacity. With prices aside, the players attitude towards BCFC aside, and just say he was here at our club. Imagine how effective we would be, if we played a 4-3-3, utilising 3 of the centre mids we have, ie Bowyer, Ferguson and Michel/Fahey/Gardner, and then Zigic up front in a central position, with Babel and Jerome latching onto his knock downs either side of him, with two good fullbacks supporting the gaps behind the two attacking wingers and the 3 CMs. It could be very effective. |

Well seen as he wasn't part of the world cup perhaps this is an omen that a deal is close to being struck, i certainly hope so, good player, exactly what we need, think if hes playing week in week out he will blossom much like Foster will |
