Can someone please explain to me why we would want a player that does not want to play football for Birmingham City Football Club? .......He was given the chance to join in January ,but after speaking to Rafa who live on TV said he had given him the choice to speak to Blues or stay and fight for a place at Liverpool ,decided he did not want to lower himself to join us .

Hope we us him via the media to gee up Wigwam to let Zoggy go  **thumbup A player who does want to play for Birmingham City Football Club.

I Hope your sitting down Mr Wood.......

I totally agree with you **thumbup

That's a first in 5 years ,so look forward to 2015 the next time i post something that you agree with ;) **thumbup

Disagree.

What Babels agent said in Jan was that Babel was open to a move to Birmingham, however Rafa convinced him to stay at Liverpool and said he would get more opportunities, which he did.

Need to take off blue tinted glasses here guys, this guy is Dutch and holds no affiliation to Blues, in fact Blues are most likely not even on the radar of most Dutch players, however Liverpool are.

If you were a young player would you prefer to stay at Liverpool with the chance of establishing yourself and playing Champions League football or move to a team, which is looking to establish itself in the Prem as it's first priority.

Ask yourselves this, apart from Ajax and a few other Dutch teams you have seen on the telly playing in European football, what is your knowledge of other lower teams, same no doubt goes for Babel.

Most Dutch football fans will be aware of all of the Premier League teams because they have the[demand/U] and the desire to watch it, its the best league in the world. Is the Dutch league the best in the world? Would it warrant being shown in the UK? The answer is simply no so to make the insinuation that he would rather continue playing a fractional part in a declining Liverpool side than come to us way off the mark.

Ian, if you read my whole post you would see that I mentioned that Rafa apparently told Babel if he stayed he would play a bigger role for Liverpool in the second half of last season, which in fairness after January he did.

There was no insinuation to be wide of the mark as it was clear what I was saying.

So if you were Babel being told by Rafa that he was a big part of the team and would have a chance to establish himself would you jump ship and rush to BCFC, like I said he has no affiliation to Blues.

Years ago my teacher said to me, always read an exam paper through before starting to answer the questions, I believe that applies to most things in life! ;)

Blues back in for Babel apparently;

Skysports.com understands Birmingham are stepping up their interest in Liverpool's Ryan Babel.

The Reds are ready to offload the former Ajax ace so that they can fund some of their own signings before the close of the transfer window.

The news has rekindled Birmingham's interest in the 23-year-old with Blues boss Alex McLeish a long-term admirer of the versatile attacker.

Birmingham failed in a bid to sign Babel during the January transfer window, but they have been keeping tabs on his situation at Anfield.

McLeish has been frustrated in his attempts to bring in attacking reinforcements after missing out on Moussa Dembele and he could now refocus his attentions on Babel.

Fair price indeed £6m.

No way is he worth the £10m-£12m that Liverpool have been on about.

Hopefully Hodgson cashes in on him to fund his own purchases.

We keep wasting time pursuing players who wont join us. Today there's talk about Babel and Bellamy, neither of whom want to come here. Someone at the club needs to take control of the situation. :banghead:

Disagree.

Everyone complained the old board showed no ambition what with backing the manager and then the manager looking at players.

I'd rather McLeish had a variety of targets whom are all quite ambitious targets for us to be knocked back on than just sign any old person to just 'fill the numbers'.

Babel @ £7-8million would be a steal in my opinion.

Its a moot point to claim that Ryan Babel does not want to come to Birmingham when McLeish first targeted him his agent said he was interested. The transfer was spiked by the intervention of Rafa Benitez whe made him commit to Anfield at the time and I think its true that Babel would prefer to play for Liverpool if he is played, but the question now is does Hodgson want to keep him!

Listed as a right footed Left Winger as flexible as Ryan Babel is across midfield he will have to accept that primary role if he comes to Blues!

A better opition than the "Zog on the Tyne" who doesn't really want to be here IMO! :applause:
