I know im posting about Nzogbia on a Babel thread, but in response to the posting about it being dangerous game to wait to the last day of the season - i couldnt agree more.

I'm afraid this is looking more the the Gary Cahill debacle by the day - correct me if im wrong but dint AMC say that that would never happen again!?

I really hope im proven wrong but i really dont think the money is really there - if it was Nzogbia would have been tied up a long time ago (i've listed the benefits to the club of paying the extra 2m on the Nzogbia thread)

Get over him and get over to the other thread if you must!

If there is one player (apart from Pav) we should push the boat out for, it is Babel imo.
Babel is more versatile than our other (?) targets. Can play on either wing, although mainly played left sided so far, and also potentially as central striker.
£10m still might not be enough though :(

Well seen as hes apparntly going to Wolfsburg for £9m it would be enough, i would lodge the bid myself even though we have very little hope of getting him, couldn't really have done much more, as soon as Liverpool said they would sell him Wolfsburg lodged a bid

Reports on the Wolfsburg approach suggested they were preparing a £9m bid while another said they were hoping to secure the Left Winger for £8m from the future receipts they would get from the Europa League tournament. **thumbup

On the left imo as long term replacement for Mcfad.
Mcfad has 1 year left plus 2 year option. If Babel was signed Blues would not take up option and probably sell Mcfad in Jan window, or they could take up option and then still sell him in next summer window.
Only my opinion, but I think Mcfad wont be staying at Blues for much longer.

I don't know if he'll be in Roy Hodgson's plans for Liverpool if he is then looks like we are looking elsewhere, if he ain't then McLeish should swoop around £10 million for him. IN McLEISH WE TRUST!

Hodgson yesterday denied that Wolfsburg had made any bid at all!

If Blues want Babel, there is NO other bid on the table.

These are upsetting qoutes from Hodgson though the word 'expecting' in the final line seems to leave the door open for any formal written bids for the dynamic and flexible Left winger!

"No, there's none there," said Hodgson of the supposed bid. "I'm afraid we're in the realm of speculation.

"You know better than I how many stories you're getting every day, and many of them are unfounded and many are attempts from people to get their players in the spotlight.

"We've had no written or formal offers for Ryan Babel and he's a player who I'm expecting to play for us."

Will he score 20+ goals for us and about 8 assists? Because wouldn't, according to you, a player have to do that for us to warrant spending 10 million and 40k+ per week wages on?

If Ryan Babel could get a regular first team place for Blues on our left flank which McLeish once assured the dutch international I think this flexible, dynamic right footed Left winger/striker could very well reach that goal tally.

Even when you consider his stats of Ryan Babel who was mismanaged and wasted by Raffa Bentitez, he made 82 appearances for Liverpool from which only he scored 11 goals and provided 5 assists, but 75 of those appearances was as a sub off and on the bench owing to the presence of Gerrard, Torres, N'gog and Co. who rarely played the lad in on the flanks when the young lad was on the pitch. If he did have 90 mins for 40+ games he would get 20+ goals IMO! But your not interested in the potential of this player are you DNK your post is just about the arguement isn't it...? As I told you before... DO ONE! :ph43r:

I'm not going anywhere pal.

It's not about the argument at all, it's called discussion. The problem is you just hate when anyone disagree's with you. You're like one of these know it all types that are never wrong. How dare anyone have a different opinion to you or disagree with you. I would suggest that if you can't handle people taking an alternate viewpoint or challenging your views or opinions then maybe it's you that shouldn't be posting on a fourm. You need to learn that disagreeing or questioning you on a public forum isn't a personal attack.

To explain my questioning, in the Nzogbia thread you said that if we paid £10 million for him, for that fee you would expect him to score at least 20 goals as well as several assists. You also say that you wouldn't want us to sign a player with his kind of attitude.

Yet here you are saying you would happily pay £10 million pounds for Babel, who in my opinion is even less proven than Nzogbia and also has a big reputation for having an extrememely bad attitude.

To sign a winger good enough to score 20plus goals in the premiership you are going to have to spend a tad over £10 million. Who's the last one I can think of...oh that's right, Ronaldo. Why don't you offer Real Madrid £10 million for Ronaldo and see where that gets you?

I would rather have Zog than Babel.. yes he has potential but so do Zog and he is also proven at prem level whereas Babel isn't..
