At the end of the day, Liverpool fans will say he's no good, and slag him off blind... but thats because he rarely plays for them.

The same 'fans' slagged off Benayoun before last season as Benayoun made no impact at Anfield either, but then once given a longer run in the team he's a fans favourite up there.

Babel's a frustrating player, theres no two ways about that, but I think that given a good run in a side, where he feels wanted (like he was at Ajax) then he could recapture his top form.

Confidence is vital

He has been part of a victims rotation system that has not
allowed him to display any consistency, allied with the fact that
the spanish waiter has played, Riera, Aurelio, Insua, Benayoun and Babel on the left at many different times.

James McFadden is IMO wasted on the left, we should be playing him
either in the hole or up front. To me Babel can come and play with freedom at blues and we will see the best of his UNDOUBTED talent, which will only benefit us.

What worries me is that we are the only club intrested in him.. :silence:

We should count ourselves lucky to be the only club reported to be in for him, because the SS story will sure as hell spark more interest.

If he was any good 1. he would not be sold...2.There would be intrest in him from more clubs.

He is good though.

You dont get as many caps for Holland that Babel has at his age if he's no good.

Just because there's no reported interest in the media, doesn't mean there is none. For all we know, we're one of many clubs in for him, just we're the only club in the media to be linked to him.

before the transfer window opened mcleish stated he was not going to be looking at players to bring in for a lot of money who will upset the fantastic team spirit we have so why is he looking at babel. if this club whants to move forward we need players with a similar attitude that the blues players at the moment who will do anything to win and will role up there sleeves and work for each other as a team ryan babal will not do that.

In a way he has sort of got that attitude, he wants to play regularly and show what he can do. He hasn't set Liverpool alight but he hasn't played enough to, when he was getting regular starts he showed what hes capable of.

Sorry, I didn't realise you knew whether he'll be sold or not, or which clubs are interested in him

All of this is rumour talk sonny.

So good players never get sold then? < <

Imo Babel is the type of player to move us to the next level. Most players of this calibre all come with an element of risk. The price tage being the first obviuosly.

In all honesty I would love to see us take a gamble and sign him. He young enough to move on again for a good amount if things dont work out.

Sign him up.

Let's not confuse no reported interest for no interest, and good players are sold every transfer window. And you don't earn 40 odd caps for the Netherlands being poor.

Even if there were no competitors for his signature, all i need to do is remember that there was little to no competition for...

Ferguson
Bowyer
Carr
Benitez
Roger
Dann

and they've helped take us to 8th place after 20 matches.

Just to add that Babel has within the last month been linked with clubs such as Bayern Munich and Spurs.

Well the gamble is going to be at least 10 million by all reports,,,,that is not a gamble that is madness.

Liverpool have debts to settle as well just like a few of the big clubs, but Rafa would not ever tell us that Liverpool are cash strapped and need the money.

Alex knows this and will hold out until Rafa or the board breaks

Some people thought villa were mad for splashing out on ashley young did they not? And he's turned out to be a bargain. Imo Babel could easily be as good as him, given an extended spell in the team.

Some players simply dont suit squad rotation and wingers are inconsistent as it is ffs. The last thing they need is to be chopped and changed all the time.

To move to the next level, this calibre of player HAS to be signed. Its not madness, its progress. It only becomes madness when you spend like man city are and chelsea did.

The whole club has to think big, especially the fans. Or also rans is what we always will be.

if you ask me i think he is another Jerome but with a end product which will do for me and at 23 plenty of improvement for ECK to extract from him .
like some have said his chances at liverpool have been limited due to the managers rotation system more than his own play also with Torres their he will always play 2nd fiddle .
what i do find funny is that somebody said that jan molby isnt is biggest fan but correct me if im wrong but doesnt nearly everybody on here slag off former liverpool players for their lack of knowledge IE Lawro/hansen whats makes molby any different

He is a little different to Jerome....

I think Quincy is the closet thing to describe him only a better quality version.

While Babel was happy to play on the wings for Liverpool as that meant games, for us he would prefer to play up front, i think with Quincy he should have been given a more forwards role aswell.

Babel will give us options thats for sure, i think he offers more upfront than Jerome but saying that Jeromes pace/workrate and strength could be perfect foil for Babel.

Or could tricky Benitez create something from nothing for Babel.

I think he would be a good signing and now first stage is wait and see if Liverpool bite as £9M is a decent offer Liverpool need the cash to land 2 of their targets as at the moment they may only get 1 and so the £9M we are offering them could be handy.

From looking at Babel's personal website, he seems to be a very level headed individual...apart from that video about God.
