From what i've seen of him he's right-footed but has been playing on the left at Liverpool. |

He seems to like to shoot a hell of a lot. Especially outside the box. Seems a bit selfish but that isn't always a bad thing in football, the more shots the more chances of goals. I scream a Chucho to shoot so many times, he seem to always want to walk it into the net. Babel would give us a different element to our game. I'd be pleased to have him. My Football Manager scout said he would be a good buy! **thumbup :D Either him or McGeady, I would love to see down St Andy's. KRO |

I think he would be great signing if we can get his confidence up again, and see him enjoying his football. I think AMc can get that out of him. I have found this season that we have produced a lot of counter attack opportunities, but mcfadden doesnt have the pace, and Chucho hesitates too much. If we had Babel he would bring pace and a direct threat. SIgn him up! |

If Babel and/or McGeady can't be had at a fee AMc deems reasonable then perhaps we should quickly move on to the next group of wingers... Adam Johnson, Victor Moses, Charles N'Zogbia, Joe Ledley, etc. |

Babel is quality he just needs games to bed himself in... not in and out of the team like he is at liverpool... god they have nearly ruined many strikers there over the past 5 years just playing them out of position. morrientes, crouch, keane, anelka now look how they done when they left even voronin last year was banging in goals Its a shame the only time we get to see him play is the odd european game.. If we can get him then he will be a class signing for us Go get him Big Eck!!! :bluzz: |

Anything over 9M and it's a definate no no!...personally I think 9M is probably too much as well. Lets face it if we're going to be going up to those sort of amounts we may as well put a cheeky 12M bid in for Dzeko or even offer 7-8M for Lewandowski (who I believe has attracted interest from Fulham). Benitez/Liverpools board are obviously trying to at least recover the 11.5M they paid for him and, while I don't blame them for doing this, I don't see why we should be held to ransom for a player that's blown more cold than hot since he arrived at the club. There's no denying that Babel has talent (you don't get as many international caps as he has without it) but 9M+ is pushing the boat a bit too much for a player who's not set the prem alight and from a club reported to be in something like 250M debt. If we're prepared to pay out the amounts reported for the likes of Babel, Kuryani why not make a cheeky bid for Carlton Cole,......back in training and another club with no money so might just go for it (or even Kenwynne Jones). OK might cost us more like 12M but we get a striker who's already doing it in the prem. If you think of the players 12M could possibly get us then Babel at 11.5-12M is far too expensive. Liverpool will find that failure to get into top 4 at end of season (which I don't think they will!), massive debts and a lack of understanding about how bad their situation really is will see them lose Torres, Gerrard, Reina, Mascherano, etc for a lot less than Benitez seems to value them at because the bank will be calling on the debt without European Champions League football to service the debt.....If AM really wants Babel that would be the time to get him, at probably something like 6M instead! |

i agree we should get him asap before some1 else come in for him. I watched him for liverpool in a champions league game think was against marselle his goal was pure class a rocket from outside of the area. If we could get him would be the best signing in our history |

Lowds, he's a 23 year old Dutch winger who can also play upfront. Very similar to Ashley Young in many respects. Can play on either wing or through the middle but is usually played on the left flank, despite being left footed. He's a decent height (about 6ft 1), lightening quick and a powerful shot from outside the box. Came to Liverpool highly rated from the Dutch U21s but hasn't ever really held down a place in their side. His main problem is a lack of consistency, but I suppose you get that with all wingers. He's probably not worth £10m at present, but IMO neither was Ashley Young when Villa bought him, and now think what he'd be worth. I think we need to face we won't be signing top players from top clubs who are on top of their game, because we're just not that club yet...one of those factors need to be missing to make them attainable for us. |

It was Lyon, and it was a cracking goal mostly cause Pool fans thought they were going through to the Champions league, only for Lisandro to mess it all up for them :D |

Just been on SSN that Babels agent has said he will consider joining us if we can reach a deal, surely anything over 9 mill might be too much of a punt? he will be a good player, but i just dont want us to put everything on him, alot of the liverpool fans have stated he has the talent, he hasnt fulfilled his potential to their standards, but his main flaw is his work ethic, im sure alex mcleish should be able to sort that out! but think if he comes in on 50k a week and looks like he cant be bothered, the rest of the lads wont be happy in that dressing room will they!! |

Where does it say that I value Jones at 12M? If the rumours are correct he's available and has a couple seasons prem experience and IMO would prove a good partner for Chucho. My initial valuation of 12m was aimed more at Carlton Cole that Jones (and that's based on the possible need for West Ham to offload players, as I believe 15M is more the ball park figure for Cole!) So tell me what would you rather have......a player who's performed in the prem, hasn't got a reported attitude problem, physical and would fit into our style of play....or would you rather have Babel, a player who the Liverpool fans believe is lazy, has an attitide proble, hasn't set the prem alight and is overpriced for what he's achieved in the prem so far! |

1. Babel is a realistic target, and the comments from his agent today, suggest he's open to a move to Blues. 2. Edin Dzeko is way out of our league, and has set his sights (rightfully, as he's class) much higher than Birmingham City. 3. Even if he was to come, he'd command more than £12m, more like £20m. 4. Robert Lewandowski for £7m-£8m? Why? You note he's been linked to Fulham, but inflate the price they are going to be paying for him (following a 6 month loan) which is just £3.5m. 5. Carlton Cole (IMO) is just a slightly improved Jerome. Why waste £10m+ on someone quite similar, when we can just develop our own version and spend that money on somebody who brings something different? 6. Kenwyne Jones is decent, but in no way is he worth £10m+, Babel is a better player. But the final point is a very valid one... Liverpool will be under immense pressure to balance books/recoup a lot of cash, if they miss out on the Champions League next season. |

Mikael. 1. Yes, Babel is a realistic target but if you read what I'm saying not at the amount that Liverpool seem to be valuing him at. 2. Hence the 'cheeky' bid stated, no-one's yet made a bid for him so why not chance your arm....specially when your 5 points off a top 5 place (unrealistic to think we could get into top 4 i know but it's a bargaining point!). 3. No one's bid yet so point 2 applies. 4. I'm going by the valuation on the SkySports scouts sight....they valued him at 5-6m with a potential value being about 16M. If we got him for less on a permanent deal because Fulham wand a loan deal first all the better. 5. A slightly improved Jerrome! Sorry but Jerromes got a long way to go before he's even in consideration for a full England call up! So far we've been unable to get out of Jerrome what West Ham have been able to get out of Cole and having Cole at the club will show Jerrome just how far he needs to improve and probably give him the kick he needs! 6. Agreed, Jones probably isn't worth 10m+ and as a player Babel is probably the better technical player. However IMO Babel is better suited to the mainland European game than the english prem and Jones has already proved that Prem defenders don't like playing against him. Personally I wouldn't even be thinking of a big money signing now, taking into account our present position I think we'd be better waiting till the markets a bit more open at the end of the season and....my post was based on a 'if we're going to do it' scenario. |

Id go for babel, he's only 23 has a point to prove, he hasn't set the league alight as he's given about 1 game every month or so, he has obvious talents hence liverpool paying £11.5 million and him being in hollands national team, he'd bring flair and excitement to st andrews and imo playing regular he will become a star at blues and 12 million will look a bargain later on. |
