I am sure Jones and Cole are worth £10-15M in their clubs eyes.

But those clubs would miss them more than Liverpool would Babel.

£9M is about right, i reon we offer them that plus a sell on clause where they get a nice cut maybe 25-33% of any profit

So if we sold him for say £18M in the future then Liverpool could make about £2.5M extra on him.

Maybe he could be worth more?

I would offer a £10M deal with sell on clause, £8M cash £2M worth of addons over his contract length and 15% total sell on fee.

We get a Babel who can cost upto £10M over his contract if he is a hit, Liverpool can make upto £10M but if we sell him off then they get a cut.

JMS.....I'm not saying that Babel isn't a bad buy...I'm just saying that he is at the right price and I don't think 12M is for a player who's struggled to be a permenant starter in Liverpool's side (that might, and probably is, down to Benitez's poor man management.....but why not use it as a bargaining tool!) and a team very, very short of money (I believe there's a strong chance that they could become the next Leeds!!).

I also have some reservations about whether he has the temprament to be a success in English football, remember Milosavitch at the other lot....couldn't hit a barn door from 10 yards, goes abroad and can't stop scoring; Kanoute....didn't make a big impact on prem but now regarded as one of LaLiga's best strikers; even Pandiani is scoring goals over there still. Some players are better suited to different styles of football and I just think that Babel's style is not suited to the English game.

Not worth that sort of money, if we pay, it just shows we're being held to ransom.

Shows how clueless they are. Kuyt's a vital team player for them and has a tremendous work-rate, he'd receive plenty of adulation for his efforts here.

where ?

http://www.birminghammail.net/birmingham-s...m-city-fc-news/

there is nothing even remotely 85% confirmed, the word believe and sources are used and in babel's case he has not even got his own article, he has a sub heading under mcgeedy

you would think a £8 million signing would have his own article

his agent is the only person to come forward and publically say birmingham have put a bid in

A bid, believed to be worth around £8 million, for Liverpool’s Ryan Babel has gone in; the Reds value him at £11 million - £12 million.

let me reiterate this

we have made an enquiry about mcgeady or whoever, no offer as far as i am aware

however an £8million bid for babel is a sub heading in that article

sounds fishy to me

his agent is the only person to publicly come forward about birmingham

everything else is unsubstantiated claims with no firm sources or names

i think babel is a smoke screen

Babel is quality he just needs games to bed himself in... not in and out of the team like he is at liverpool... god they have nearly ruined many strikers there over the past 5 years just playing them out of position.
morrientes, crouch, keane, anelka now look how they done when they left even voronin last year was banging in goals

Its a shame the only time we get to see him play is the odd european game..

If we can get him then he will be a class signing for us

Go get him Big Eck!!! :bluzz:

Totally agree Loz.JJB :applause:

Cant understand why so many cannot see the potential of Ryan Babel in our current sqaud as a desperately needed striking winger. :banghead:

The EVIDENCE is on many vids on U-tube! :applause:

He is tricky like our own Benitez, as fast as Jerome and he has exampled some brilliant goals! **thumbup

No hes a real football player never heard of a smoke screen called babel but thats only me

isnt everything in TRANSFER TALK unsubstantiated thats why it is called TALK / GOSSIP / RUMOURS if it was fact then then what would be the point of a forum
whether you want to believe or dis-believe is entirely upto the person who reads it

we couldnt afford his wages and he has been playing champions league football for the past 4 years

why come to birmingham

his agent is using us to show he is available

but how can you make a statement like BABEL would touch us you dont know him personally or is agent if the money is right and the clubs ambition is right and the money is their to fund big wages then i see no reason why he shouldnt but all that is something neither you nor me know

Agreed his agent could be using us to let clubs know his player is availible so did Jankovich's and no doubt Boyds.

Would he touch us thats a good question, he may do if no other clubs bigger come after him, then he may have a choice first team with us, or bench for Liverpool.

Liverpool lack cash, if they fail to get 4th they could well have a weaker side next season as i dont see them getting loans for more cash to spend.

As far as wages go, i dont think wages are a problem no more as long as players dont be silly, i am sure we could match his Liverpool wage as we could kuranyi's wages.

But not his silly demands to come here, so provided Babel did not try and be greedy and ask for £90K etc i cant see why not, maybe we would pay £50-60K

Which other clubs would pay £10M for Babel i dont think many would.

take off your blue tinted glasses

[and dont make out i am not a blues fan as i am a ST holder that goes to the away games as well]

a young dutch player with international caps previously played for ajax in champions league, signed for liverpool for over £12 million

here are his stats

first season with liverpool played 49 games and scored 10 goals

second season with liverpool played 38 games and scored 4 goals

this season played 13 games and scored 3 goals

so made 137 appearances since joining liverppol in 2007

so why does he want to leave liverpool for Birmingham, he might want to leave but i doubt it is birmingham

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Babel

all due respect this player is out of our reach as is a top 8 finish this season

put yourself in his shoes, 25 Cl appearances since 07, why would i join birmingham !

OH YES where did you hear juventus were after him since you so certain they want him

Babel's agent has said he's interested in joining us.

He would just quash talk if there was no chance of it happening, just like agents do. The fact Babel's agent hasnt means theres something in this.

As for the Juventus link? Where have you got that from? The only two clubs ive read that are named as being interested in Babel, are us and Ajax.

Sully has gone.....

We have nothing to be negative about no more.

We have to show ambition, nothing wrong with that and going for Babel is that, this does not mean we will get him. Every player wants bigger clubs i am sure when we went for Benitez if he also had a offer to join Everton at the start of the season do you think he would be here?

Will we finish 8th....?

Well we are 8th now and if we had signed 4-5 players linked with say IF.... we did pull off a

Jankovich or Kuranyi (without his silly wage demands)
Babel or McGeady
Michel
Gardener
Konchesky

I am pretty sure we would have at least as good chance of 8th as Everton, Fulham or Sunderland who else will challenge for 8th? None of the others even Stoke etc i feel we have as good chance as finishing as high as them as it is, without any new players.

Reasons to leave Liverpool and join a club he'd likely start every match with...

He's started 3 premier league matches this season
He started 6 premier league matches last season
He started 15 the season before that, his first with the club and those starts have declined ever since.

You've no idea where we'll be finishing (8th or otherwise) nor do any of us, and you've no idea who we're capable of signing. They're only opinions you are entitled to.

Not saying we will get Babel or McGeady.... i think we will get a decent player for £6-10M depending who, we have ambition and will pull someone off even if not those two McLeish will move to another target.

All i can say is i think we will finish 10th but have just as much chance of 8th as we have 12th.

Relegation forget it i think we are closer to getting EUFA Spot than Relegation 6 more points should keep us up.

Well Bable will compete for a couple of positions which could be what the manager is thinking rather than bringing in too many players during Jan where prices and availablity makes life harder for us.
