I'm not his biggest fan by any distance, but I really can't see any way that slagging him off is helping anyone.

Who's to say that there aren't one or two other players (present or future) looking at this site to see what the fans are all about?

Not the sort of thing I'd like to be reading if I were thinking of a move to a new club (kinda reminds me of the Gronks episode).

Bent is not likely to play in the first team for us again this season. He is entitled to be paid, even if he doesn't.
I'm sure he'd move if he could (probably take a pay cut, but if I was him, I'd not want to take a stupidly large cut)

Leave him alone eh? Let's enjoy the good things about the club while we can :Blues:

Well in the general scheme of things I think McLeish has more than proved his worth in the transfer market in being the judge of players. Perhaps McLeish would have done things differently in hindsight. However he did prepare a side which could be promoted from the Championship and we were promoted from the Championship.

Within this successful promotion campaign the stats say Bent played 27 games and scored 3 goals. Given that we were promoted and he played half a season he deserves respect and congratulations for this effort. Doesnt he?

If your suggesting we shoudl have bought someone else. How do you know. He could well have been the best we could get given that we were going down for a championship campaign. Furthermore in the campaign last year the creative midfielders lacked form and McLeish relied on a stalwart defence strategy. As a forward relying on service critcism cant really be completely aimed at Bent.

Given the Sky money that we have received and he helped us earn this more than makes up for his wages.

Thankyou Bent for your part in the successful 2008-2009 campaign resulting in promotion to the best league in the world.

I dont see why he was bought in the first place tbh...

I'll never forgive McLeish for bringing him here when everyone else knew he was a waste of space. A shocking decision by AM.

Bit over the top... when we signed him, it was sort of a coup as he'd been Wigan's top goalscorer in the Premier League the season before we signed him.

We needed a bigger forward (as we still do now) and Eck thought he was the right man for the job... he obviously wasnt, but he contributed a bit to our promotion, but now its time for him to go.

Has returned to the club.

What do we do with him now?

http://www.bcfc.com/page/News/NewsDetail/0...1936065,00.html

Envoy to China.

Visits every Xtep shop in the Blues kit, signs autographs and things.

Walks the whole Wall and poses for publicity snaps every 50 miles - by my reckoning that should be 120 photo opportunites and take about six months.

(How long is his contract  )

You're all slagging him off but to me he's one of the best Bents in the prem. In fact I'd go so far as to say he's in the top 2.

He's not welcome here, nor will McLeish particularly want him here.

Plus didnt he play for your lot against Man City? That'd mean he's cup tied.

And if he didnt, we had a young lad on the bench who has probably got ahead of Bent in the pecking order hopefully.

Birmingham Mail

MARCUS Bent could still play a part for Blues this season, if there is no further interest during the transfer window.

Alex McLeish said Bent’s situation had not really altered from the beginning of the season when he and Gary McSheffrey were made available.

Bent this week returned from a two-and-a-half-month loan at Middlesbrough, who have not shown any willingness to talk about a permanent transfer.

“I did say to Marcus a wee while ago that we would listen to offers,” said McLeish. “Nothing’s changed from that point.

“I don’t know whether his agent has got anything for him. But I never, ever said he was totally out of the plans.

Mcfadden, benitez, Jerome, O'Connor, Phillips and Mcsheffrey have all played this season and are all ahead of him why would you think he'd be playing for us today all of a sudden? :silence:

As far as I know Marcus isnt injured and fit to play...

But Mcleish still chose to bring in a reserve team/youth player Jake Jervis instead of Marcus Bent...

Work it out, AM knows hes useless to us now!

Just checked... he started for Boro against Man City in their cup game a couple of weeks ago.

So he was cup-tied, so I have no idea why the Boro fan wouldve thought he'd play today, knowing he couldnt?

Marcus if your reading this. Come on get your head down son and show us what you can do. You have a couple more good seasons left in you.
Even if it's only in the reserves - work hard get your form back and buiild a life for yourself even if it has to be pastures new.

Blues Reserves could be a good place to prove yourself oncemore. No pressure except what you put on yourself.

You owe it to do it for yourself!!
