what is it with boyd. We need to look at better strikers than him now pav would be a quality signing hes class and a well better striker. Tbh i wouldnt mind boyd as a backup not as first choice

that was the point i was making - i would rather have Boyd on the bench than a young lad - especially at Everton. the other thought is that another Prem striker might well be cup-tied (not sure) whereas Boyd isn't.

But do you really think Boyd would join us if he thought he was going to sit on the bench?

We have to look at the players we already have. We might never get Boyd, so well done Jake.

yes, well done Jake! and how silly of me to have expected to have more choices by this stage of the transfer window than rely on a youngster at Everton!

I'll take that as if you were insinuating we should sign him...

...Good potential, but not a great goalscoring record. I like the lad and think he could develop well, but there's no reason for him to leave Everton!

Yeah mate I am, Moyes wants rid
He is low down in the pecking order.
Saha
Yakubu
Donavan
Anichebe

Hes still young and id say he could catch up with Jerome. Hes a brummy so i say we go in for him. Could work out a good player for us if kept injury free!

I think that Macleish has done this to offset any comments from the Krystian Pearce sale to Huddersfield. He can now at least say "Yes i do give the academy lads a chance". I will reserve my judgement till i have seen him play a few times though.

Is that meant as a dig at Eck? If so then it's out of order.

Goodness knows how many times fans have said give the reserves a chance and when he does you criticise him.

Eck is trying hard to bring in a striker but it's not like going to the supermarket and picking one off the shelf. Be patient something will happen next week.

it's not a dig at Eck, i think if the lad deserves a chance then it's great that he gets one. that said i do feel we should have made more decisive moves in the transfer market by now.

we have big games coming up and i would have hoped for more quality in by now. i hear the comments that we're playing a waiting game and yes, if that works then good but it could also backfire as other clubs will be waiting too. also if clubs like Liverpool and Spurs are reluctant to sell then we could end up paying what we could have paid a week ago and had the services of the player concerned for these difficult games ahead.

just my opinion...

You think AM is worried about comments from people about Pearce being sold? He has explained why he was sold, in a very tactful way so as not to hurt the lad's sensibilities.

But you think they organise their team and squad for the sake of PR ?

:LMAO:

Gordon Bennet.

Jake is there on ability and consensus amongst the coaching staff. In the same way that Pearce was sold on ability and consensus of the coaching staff.

Good Luck JJ - ignore the conspiracy theorists. You are where you are on ability. **thumbup

Apologies Penguin, I misinterpreted your post.

This window though is unfortunately a waiting game, I'm not too worried about other teams, there aren't many out there with money to spend.

Stayin off topic.

We are probably the highest spenders so far in the Prem. (Depending on Vierra that is)

Stupid prices by both agents and clubs will see it crash come next weekend.

Why do people get wound up by rumours, agent-hype and deliberate mis-information? The more rumour and silly talk concerning Alex's millions means that some clubs and agents are going to panic before next weekend and beg AM to go through with his query instead of going after x y and z.

A waiting game. As grumpy said.

What you want Bent Pt 2 because thats all thats available? Sutton because the owner fancies him ?

Isn't there enough fodder in the transfer bucket to keep all of you satisfied. How about not hijacking this thread, and paying the lad some respect by doing so.

Oh My God - the king of off-topic speaks.

Lets have 20 posts about attacking you now eh ?

English may not be your first language, but I did say I was going off topic. Such courtesy may not be familiar to you when you hijack threads willy nilly. But make an effort in reading.

Jake - well done lad.

Ignore the comments about why you made the squad by the losers.

Just show them **thumbup

I find it funny that you have the inability to comprehend that one of Macleish's first academy team player starts is announced the day after he receives flak from some areas for releasing an apparently good academy player and not playing youth players :break: I think there is thought behind Macleish's decison to include him and one of those thought process is in my view the reasons i outlined above.

By saying that in a public forum you have insulted the young lad.

You are in effect saying that his place in the squad - decided by consensus, not by a stand alone manger - is a result of spin and PR.

That opinion to me is disgusting. And yes you are entitled to it.

To voice it is disgusting. To voice it as a moderator is double disgusting.

You have no proof do you that it was PR and spin? It is just an opinion that a decision agreed upon to sell one player, went ahead through the club whilst the manager was in Malta. As was a decision to leave Taylor behind as he also was allowed to leave the club.

According to your twisted logic we should have Murphy on the bench to prove that AM hasn't got anything against injured players.

I'm getting a bit cheesed off with moderators creating disturbance on this forum.

Inteferring with threads, denigrating players and hiding behind their mod status.

Apologise to the lad Ian. You have done a great dis service in a thread that was supposed to congratulate him.

Shame.

I have to admit that the thought did cross my mind as well, but no matter any possible ulterior motives behind the decision the fact is that Jervis has has been scoring goals and playing well for the academy and reserves and is deserving of this opportunity.

I'm very interested to see how AMc handles the academy players from this point forward. Aluko and Krystian were two of Blues more promising scholars, and now they've been sold; a decision will soon have to be made on players such as Jared Wilson, who'll be 21 in a few days. I look forward to the continued development and eventual opportunities to come for some of the players who seem to have been around a few seasons now, like Mutch, Sammons, Jervis, McPike, and Preston. There's also more recent arrivals Bogle, Butland, Asante, Rowe, Timmins, Hronec, Kerr, Ntambwe... Hopefully there's a few that will eventually make the step up in the coming years.

Strange unfounded accusations across the forum.

Are you myopic Ian?

What you have posted about McLeish's hidden agenda and Jake's right to be picked by ALL the coaches for a squad place ? THAT is unfounded.

Eh ?

Strange and unfounded. Not proven either.
Whereas my concerns are there to be examined.

Don't worry about my complaint, coupled with your vindictive poll it will go in I promise.
Now just apologise to Jake and get rid of this diversion. I'll not reply to any other blathering from you - because I think between us we have ruined his big day.

Goodbye.
