I hate to admit, but I was a bit envious last night watching all those vile fans on the pitch celebrating. You only have to win 5 games to get to the FA Cup Final (not sure about League Cup).

Maybe we should take these competitions a bit more seriously and support them more as it looks a lot of fun when you get there.

We just haven't been in a position to do so for the last five or six seasons, we've either been on a promotion charge on in a relegation scrap. Maybe one day we'll have mid-table mediocrity and we'll be able to go for it.

the wording of your post suggests that we don't take them seriously - i think Alex would take some exception to that. perhaps we have taken them seriously but just not been good enough on the day to progress...

i think we're all envious of Vile for getting to Wembley but fair play to them for doing so. the last time we got to the final of a major competition we were also strong favourites for promotion to the Premiership.

unfortunately we ended up with neither the silverware or promotion. shame as imo TF deserved more from his time and hard work here, not to mention his love for the club.

in good time i'm confident that not only can we become an established Premier League club but we can also begin the hunt for silverware. the owners and management team will be all too aware of our trophy-less cabinet.

Edit: i also say let's look at the team on Saturday to face Everton. the Toffee's are in great form at the moment and must surely be favourites to beat us. we play Chelsea a few days after so let's see how serious McLeish is with his team selection. i think you'll then see how much he'd like to win the FA Cup.

Christ how quickly do we forget our day out in Carpark when we lost to liverpool on pens.

Alex fielded a full team against Notts Forest, seemed to be taking it seriously to me.

the team we put out against Sunderland tells me we weren't taking it seriously.

the team we put out away at Forest also tells me we weren't taking it seriously.

Interpret it any way you want.............but the majority interpret it as not taking it seriously, hence the low cup attendances.

I agree, however we were in a different position than the vile at the start of the competition... survival was our aim, and early on the cup was a bit of distraction!

We will see similar scenes in the near future I am sure of it!

not only that but they always say how we have won F all, but we have won the League cup - so if they dont count the league cup as winning anything I dont know why they are so bothered about it now :fishing:

luck of the draw has helped them cardiff(h), Sunderland(a), pompey(a), blackburn semi finals. not a bad run to have. only tricky one is sunderland which they won on pens. typical they have brighton in the fa cup too. luck of the draw is a massive help.

look when cardiff got to the final

3rd round chasetown

4th round hereford

5th round wolves

quarter final boro

semi final barnsley

Also if you want to add even more to the 'Shove that in your pipe and smoke it' effect...

Remind the Vile inbred knuckle-draggers who we beat in the final 3-1 on aggregate to lift the trophy **thumbup

I honestly think that if we can win at Everton then we have a very nice opportunity in this cup..the only team I fear at the moment is Arsenal
