am i the only one frustrated at the fact that, as we approach the penultimate weekend of the transfer window, we have only bought in one player? i really would have hoped/liked to have identified and bought in at least a striker in time for tomorrow's game or the games next week. at this rate if we leave it much later we will not have anyone in for the Spurs game... am really fed up of all this speculation. in the words of The King: a little less conversation, a little more action please... |

Think we are trying .... I just hope we get more bodies in before it closes, as for me the squad is paper thin I dont want the season to just fizzle away ie like Hull last year |

I reckon mcleish is just waiting for clubs to wilt. I can see babel coming on the last day of transfer window. gardner will be done by middle of next week and one more acquisition again right at the end of the window. |

the boss has been away for a few days,if you get somebody new in ,there needs to be press stuff done etc, and with the cup weekend why payout a couple of weeks wages when we can't use em ? i assume most new signings will be on wages of 20k or more so it could be quite a saving...just an idea like |

I'm more frustrated with the links that often seem to be little more than a column filler or a little tag line added onto the end of the sports report so the presenter doesn't have to stare blankly at the camera for a few seconds more. I think Eck has played this window very well as with others by not really giving too much of a sniff to the media and keeping a lot in house. However the agents and the press are doing most of it for him. I don't blame them as they are only doing their job, but I'd much prefer to keep it all in house until the scarf is pictured above the head overlooking the pitch from the directors area. |

McCleish is a shrewd operator and plays his cards very close to his chest after the game tomorrow me thinks things will really start to hot up and by close we will have done the deal with 3 new players my guess will be: Pavlawotsit Boyd (dont shout) or Mcready Gardener Patience is a virtue apparently............... |

Bloody hell, ive always known 'patience' is a big let down for Blues fans, but come on, surely this isnt serious? How many clubs have even signed players in January? Man City were linked since the summer to enhance their squad in January, they've brought in Patrick Vieira and linked to others. Liverpool have only signed Maxi Rodriguez. The fact theres hardly any business in January is all down to the recession and the precarious positions so many clubs are in now. We're lucky to be one of only a select few clubs with money to spend...we've brought in Michel, more or less brought in Gardner, and still have offers on the table for McGeady and Babel... plus heavily linked with Pavyluchenko... aswell as a contract on the table for Kris Boyd... Surely it all beats being constantly linked to Jason Euell throughout January, or ending up signing players like Martin Latka, DJ Campbell, Ferdinand Coly, Piotr Swierczewski etc? |

Let's get real, nobody has done much business so far. Next week will be when it will start in earnest. The press gets fed stuff by the Agents and they have to fill their column inches with something. I'm just as frustrated as everyone else but I do think that Eck is doing the right thing by keeping his cards close to his chest. I'm expecting Gardner in next week and a decent stiker but I don't think there will be much more than that. |

I think its all about waiting out the MONs and Mc'Gready money grabbers Kenwyne Jones for example, is a name I've grown to hate during this window at £28m ? 'What a Joke'! :LMAO: On the 'Worst Tranfer Window' thread I posted the point that our publised money gives Big Eck a measure of power in this market, provided he rebuffs the initial asking prices which to date he seems to be doing. We must trust in Alex Mc'Leish and have a little more patience with the canny Scot who for certain knows more than all of us put together by a marquee mile! :applause: I personally have a strong feeling for what its worth, that by the close of this window our Strikers will be the dynamic Ryan Babel flanked by our own improving Jerome and Benitez, **thumbup and only the untruthful, inconstant Raffagaffa Spanish Waiter could spike to prevent this! :banghead: KRO :Blues: |

So far.... Arsenal have bought Galindo (undisclosed fee) Cambpbell (free) Everton Donovan (loan) Hull Zaki (loan) Liverpool Maxi (free) Man City Vierra (undisclosed) Sunderland Killgallon (£1.75m) Wigan Caldwell (Undisclosed) Gohouri (free) Stojkovic (loan) Wolves Mujangi-Bia (loan) Blues Michel (£3mill) That's it.All the Premier transfers to today. We're probably the highest spenders so far or Man City. But no one is doshing out the dosh. The last week and the last weekend will be the crucial times, when agents back down, clubs feel pressure from banks as well as unhappy players. We've got until 5:00pm Monday 1st February, so I wouldn't allow the rumours to make you feel unhappy. We've done more than many others so far. **thumbup |

I'm confident that by the end of the window we'll have Michel (done deal), Gardner (early next week), a striker (probably Pavlyuchenko) and a winger (not sure which one, depends how much we spend on Pavs - maybe McGeady though). That'd leave us looking pretty strong IMO. Harry will want Pavs out asap so he can spend the money - same with O'Neil and Gardner. McGeady might be a bit harder to lure, but then players like Moses and Adam Johnson will become more available as the window progresses due to Palace's desperation for cash and Johnsons contract expiring in the summer. |

I think the main problem with this window, unlike most others, is that the majority of the clubs have little if nothing to spend (like the V*le! Ha!) and are looking to recoup as much as possible on any sale. So you have all these the crazy inflated prices for players that I don't think are worth anything like the prices being banded about. It's a bit of a waiting game, I'm sure that clubs will buckle on prices as the deadline approaches, as they are going to want cash flown etc for the next five months. |

I'm fairly confident that Mcleish will get a striker in this window. it looks likely that Pav is the most likely at the moment. I have a feeling there may be a surprise/marquee signing coming in but will have to wait and see who know's. i have grown frustrated with all the players we have been linked with and not knowing which ones have any truth in the link. Babel is mulling over an offer (supposedly)but this is only from the players agent(believe in this what you will). I wouldnt be surprised if we left it until the summer if im honest. Mcleish seems to have gone back to the original target in Boyd and wants to agree a pre contract arrangement so this would mean we dont get him until the summer. I keep hearing Huntelaar is available on loan from AC and his signing would tick all the boxes both commercially and playing wise for me so this could be the surprise i mentioned above. other than this unless celtic lower their price for mcgeady i cant see this happening and Babel well if it happens it happens but if it doesnt i wouldnt be too dissappointed. at the end of the day i think its refreshing that we arent just signing players for the sake of it and because of the situation we are in we can afford to play hardball as there isn't that desperation to get a signing in as in previous seasons so overall im not too worried at the moment. :bluzz: |

i agree with the lack of money about i do think that the transfer merry-go-round all resolves around the gardner deal i think once that deal is done then all hell will be let loose we buy him vile have money to spend they go buy someone and so on and so on i know it is only 3.5mill but from acorns grow big trees or something like that :LMAO: |

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish has confirmed his interest in signing Rangers striker Kris Boyd. And he is closing in on the signature of Aston Villa midfielder Craig Gardner in a £3.5 million deal. Next Weekend !! :Blues: |

Just watched AM on sky and he is giving nothing away, he knows what players we have bid for and he is trying to keep it quiet, so the likes of steve bruce don't come in and ruin the deal. i am certain Gardner is a done deal, and a striker of decent quality will be here before the dead line, and even if we did not sign a 10million pound striker i would be happy to see out the season with what we have and move in the summer for quality. |

Tatts has said there is going to be action in the last few days... We will definately bring in some-one but fair play to Mcleish not getting held to ransom and throwing money away... Its all good saying yeah pay this much for him, and pay this much for him, but if it goes pear-shaped then it will be the same fans who are moaning saying why did we pay this much for him if he flops... Has Mcleish given us any right to worry at the moment ... Im sure hes just as frustrated as some of you that his targets arent quite working out as well as he hoped, but if I know Mcleish as well as I hope I do, he will have a contingency plan incase we fail to bring in the plan A's, then we'll resort to short term fixes like Boyd, Dindane etc I believe summer will be the time period where we go from 'yo-yo club' status to a reckoning force in the Prem, weve just got to be patient! |

January is normally the window for panic buying and selling clubs tend to bump up the price because buying club are desperate, fortunately we're in a position where we are that desperate and can hold out for a more realistic price. |

I have total faith in McLeish. If he can, he will get players for a reasonable price that will add to the squad strength. If not, he will save the money for the summer. Bruce wasted a lot of money here and now I see the Wigan boss has criticized Bruce for his purchases. Every now and then I see a player and I think "oh yes, we had him at one time" - Vine, Campbell, Morrison, Coly, Blake etc.. etc...none of whom were worth anything. McLeish has earned our faith - he has made a better team, with better players that play better football. I thank God I'm an aetheist but in Alex I trust! |
