For years now ive said we need a feeder club. A smaller club who could nurture young footballers. And when they are good enough move them on to our manor and a true football club.
Welcome Craig Gardiner, you have now hit the big time.

You should have had a question mark after "cares" and another question mark after "problem"

So it should be written as:
Who cares? You knew what he was on about so where is the problem?

And what about you boiling your head?

I'm sure it was a simple mistake, what we don't need is people
patrolling around message boards pulling them on their spelling and grammar.
I doubt very much he was being disrespectful.

Hope this helps

Dont mean to sound negative or anything I know this thread has been started as a bit of a joke but Craig Gardner is rubbish and the truth is that he's a Villa reject, exactly the same as Ridgewell.

The difference is that I thought that we had progressed since then. Gardner was a sixth choice central midfielder for them and if he hadnt joined us nearly everyone on these boards would be saying how rubbish he is.

I really dont think that a player like Gardner will take us forward. Ive watched him play a few times, he has a decent shot on him but cant pass a ball to save his life. Why the hell would they sell him for only three million if he was any good?!

I think if truth be told, theyre feeding their rubbish to us.

Lets just hope your wrong.

In the main, fans from the filth that i know beg to differ on your opinion.
Some are quite upset that he has chosen us **thumbup

I already make my contribution in tax to go toward the education system. I like to see some value for my money.

As for giving to the Get a Life Saddo foundation - I know they get a lot of support from primary school kids, but I don't think they've had anyone over the age of seven express their desire to donate before...

Then again, I'm sure Craig has got used to people spelling his name wrong after five years around Villa fans - that's one thing we can all agree on :)

I dont think you appreciate just how good McLeish is. Football is full of good players who just havent made the mark for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sometimes it just might be that a player is good but just cannot break past the fully experienced players into the team. A perfect exmaple of this was Upson. Wenger didnt want to sell him but coudnt give him a place in the team. We bought him he has gone to West Ham and is constantly linked with England. Gardener is a utility player who can do a good job for us. He gives cover across our midfield and in defence. As for not very good. Villa didnt want to sell him. We waited a long time to get him They tried to haggle for more money and failed.

I think McLeish knows what he is doing he is targeting those he wants and going after them. He is building slowly preparing a team that can consolidate next year rather than fighting for relegation.

We are building. You can trust McLeish.

Marcus Bent? :o

I hope Colin isn't right but the same thoughts have occurred to me. Only £3m, 6th choice for Villa midfield. This looks like a Sully-era signing.

I hope McLeish isn't a 10th - 16th man. I hope he realises we are a forward-looking club, with high aspirations and money. We should be top6 year-in, year-out for most of this decade.

Alex if you realise that and up to it then I'm with you. If not, then you should join McCarthy at Wolves.

Tony, you are spot on. (Apart from spelling Gardner as Gardener :P)

We are taking the club forward step by step, which is a good thing. Signing a young ex-England U21 international for £3m is a good move. He won't get starts straight away, but he'll be a brilliant versatile player on the bench who will improve dramatically over the next few years.

I agree with some of the previous posters who eluded to the fact that he is often likened to Scott Parker. I agree - if Gardner turns out to possess anything like the quality Parker does - then we've grabbed ourselves a bargain.

At the moment we have Damien Johnson on the bench. Gardner is twice the player of DJ, so that's an obvious improvement.

Very astute business in my opinion, but I think we'll probably have to splash a bit more cash if we want to grab ourselves a top notch goalscorer!

Oh here we go again... heres the typical support that players get from their new fans at Birmingham!

Brilliant.... im sure a lot of players are clamouring to sign for us knowing the support they'll get.

How about getting behind our players instead of instantly labelling them as 'rubbish' ? Gardner isn't rubbish, and will be a valuable member of our squad for years to come IMO.

I hope he makes all doubters take back theres opinions on him just like Stephen Carr did.
Yeah he may not have been first choice for Villa (we'd never have got him otherwise) and may have 'only cost £3m'... but why should McLeish go out and spend £5m-£7m on a squad player, when Gardner was available, just £3m and a good player, potentially great player?

how the f@@@ do you know he's a new fan?

I share his views, am I a new fan?

With your attitude and others as well, I know wonder we are struggling to sell out St Andrews.
