“La verdad que todo el mundo está sorprendido por lo que el equipo viene realizando. Cada semana ponemos de nuestra parte para sacar los partidos adelante y lograr esta campaña que nadie se la pensaba”

Everybody is surprised for what the team is achieving. Every week we do our best to play the best we can on the games and keep on going with this good campaing that nobody was expecting.

“Esta es una de las mejores ligas, todos quisieran estar aquí. Nuestra misión es asegurar nuestra permanencia en la Premier. La gente es muy fanática acá, desde que llegué estuvieron muy emocionados y me trataron muy bien, Ahora me tratan mucho mejor”,

This is one of the best Leagues everybody would like to be here. Our mission is to make sure we dont get relegated. The fans are into the team a lot since I came here they were very happy and they treated me really good, now they treat me even better.

“Alex McLeish fue el que me trajo y siempre me está apoyando, a parte de ser entrenador es una muy buen persona fuera del campo, siempre está pendiente de mi y de lo que me ocurra en mi vida personal”.

Alex McLeish was the one who brought me here and is always supporting me. Besides being the coach he is a good person outside the field, he always cares about me and how I'm doing on my personal life.

“Ecuador es todo sol, acá es un frío muy complicado. Hay veces que la nieve impide que entrenemos. Cuando llegue no podía aguantar el frío. Pase con gripe varios días hasta que me acostumbré. Ahora me da igual. La pretemporada la hice a conciencia y creo que eso ha sido lo que me ha estado sosteniendo en los partidos”.

Ecuador is all about the sun, here the cold is really complicated. Sometimes the snow does not let us do training. When I first came here I could not stand the cold. I was sick (cold) for a few days now I'm getting used to it. I dont care about the cold anymore. I worked hard during the preseason and I believe that's what is keeping me in good shape during the games.

Hey Fellas this is the the best I could do to translate this interview that Benitez gave to a ecuadorian radiostation this morning.

Good work, all makes sense.

Sounds like he's loving it and glad he's used to the cold! He'll only get better as the summer arrives and on FA cup final day... :)

The Man U game where it was -6 on pitch level poor Benitez looked like he'd been hit by a bus in the first half! Poor things legs wouldnt move, looked frozed and had a dire first half. Doubt he'd ever been so cold. 2nd half he ran their defence ragged with Jerome. Sums Benitez up for me; seems like a wonderful guy who fits in brilliantly with out 110 per cent, lets deal with it and lets play football attitude at the club. I hope the goals start to flow a little more for him. Seems an honest, hardworking footballer who can only improve on his already impressive talents. And a nice bloke aswell.

Thanks for that ... enjoyed the interview. :)
Delighted he scored today, he deserves at least 6 goals this season including those wrongfully disallowed etc. And he has set up directly or indirectly at least 15.........
oh wait have we scored that many? :D :D

I wonder how his English is coming on? It would help him settle in being able to converse with everyone etc. Has anyone heard anything on this?

He looked so happy to have scored ... When he dropped to his knees smiling with his hands in the air I wanted to run on the pitch and celebrate with him!

I swear he was blowing kisses into the sky after he ran back to our half after the goal, anyone know what that is about?

I didn't see it yet but at a guess it's probably a thank you to the heavens, God, or his lucky stars? He kissed the ball when he scored his first goal :D against Wigwam? :o Really delighted for him, and I hope he gets loads more.

lol @ the scousers reaction to both goals. 2nd and especially 6th one down. They don't look a BIT happy! :D
Chucho seems to have run over to the Everton fans by mistake, or maybe the Blues fans are out of sight from the camera angle

Lol no problem...

Those pictures alone tell the story of how we won the game...

2 Great goals, and practically every picture sums up how little time we gave their players on the ball, keeping them under constant pressure, especially their midfield ... I imagine the lads have worked really hard in Malta this week building team spirit and stuff like that, I think your average Prem team or Championship team, even us last season could have easily said 'Yeah weve had nearly 2 weeks without a game, were all out of sorts, away at a team like Everton, im sure the fans wont be expecting a win... Maybe not in those exact words, but I think given their home form recently and our break from footy they were favourites today and we went there and did everything we needed to, we were great!

Back to the subject at hand though, I hope Chucho gets his first home goal against Tottenham, would love for him to get the goals that he deserves for his hard work!
