I find Bazzas form very puzzling as being a Rangers (+BCFC) fan I have never really rated him. He was very mediocre for Rangers and rarely stood out playing safe square passes most of the time with the odd sublime pass and never enough goals for someone with his reputation. Just goes to show you that people can criticise a player when he is playing for a particular team that don't neccessarily suit his style of play or have players around him to compliment. He very obviously seems to be far more comfortable alongside other comfortable midfielders such as Bowyer. We are all guilty of too often judging players by how they perform alongside their team mates and system when maybe we should be judging players as individuals concentrating on their merits and weaknesses as an individual instead of how they perform in a collective unit.
I must hold my hands up and have never been so glad to be proved wrong regarding Barry and long may his form continue.

How many Blues fans at the start of the season would have expected to read the words 'Birmingham City' and 'Nou Camp' in the same sentence...

Unless it read ''In awe of his sides 1-0 triumph over fellow strugglers Hull City, Mcleish has decided to take the whole Birmingham City squad to watch Barca play their next home fixture at the Nou Camp''

**thumbup How targets and expectations have changed

I remember how many people slated Ferguson this summer when he joined us... 'past it'... 'Prem flop' and 'waste of money' were just a few things spouted by 'supporters'... how little did they know.

I said at the time, and I stick by it now.... you find me a better £1m paid out this season for anyone.

Anyone read the ridiculous comments at the bottom from people who have obviously never seen him play this year...

"yeah 20ish league starts 0 goals 4 yellows and one red.

shots on goal 2 fouls committed 28 assists 0.

Obviously a midfield general who is pulling all the strings at Birmingham."

Its down to the Manager and how he works with the players.

I bet Blackburn fans are particularly annoyed. I must admit I've always admired his reading of the game and spacial awareness, but I didn't appreciate how good his box-to-box play is.

I read the article in the paper yesterday (don't normally buy it, but asked Mrs to buy me a paper & she got that one). It was very positive, from what I can remember.

I thought I'd "refresh my memory" on what it said, so clicked the link on my work pc.

I got the following message....

He was in the crowd watching the Vile against Brighton, as they've been linked with him too. He's definately going somewhere...

Yeah, Boyd is leaving - it's just a ***** up between Villa and Blues. Personally, I'm on the fence. If McLeish wants him, then I'll support his signing, though I think we could get a better quality of striker in. I just wouldn't want him to be a last resort signing if all of our other targets fail.

We'll see!

"never enough goals for someone with his reputation"

what are you talking about?? he scored over 20 odd goals in the uefa cup final season - which isn't bad for a midfielder!!! (or a striker)

Boydy's not out of contract until the summer and trust me he's not going anywhere in January at least. If he goes in the summer it'll have been after he's signed a new deal with us so we can make some money on him & he gets pushed out the door a la Barry Ferguson.

As for him being in the crowd watching Villa, I'd put my mortgage on it that he will not sign for Aston Villa! Boydy bleeds blue and will do what's best for himself obviously and then Rangers. He'll never leave in January when it could cost us the title no chance!

What do you mean "better quality" of striker?!! SPL top goalscorer what more do u want?!!

As I've already posted he will not be leaving Rangers in this transfer window. I have no doubt that McLeish will want him though and he may just get him in the summer. Time will tell!

You can have Kyle (£3.75m) Lafferty if you want? :P

I don't believe he failed at Blackburn! Those who said he "couldn't cut in the Premiership" were wrong then as they'll realise now. Before his injury @ Blackburn he was playing well and was often MOTM.

The bottom line of course was that going to Blackburn was a huge mistake for Fergie, he was wrongly influenced by people around him & was very unhappy away from Rangers. (He openly admits all of this in his autobiography so not just my opinion.) I've always been a big fan of wee Fergie and am delighted to see how well he's doing in Birmingham, he's silenced his critics!
