Watching the Manchester City 'B' Team play Scunthorpe. Apart from the younger prospects, a fair few of today's Man City side will probably want to move on in the summer when Mancini flexes the financial muscle at Eastlands.

I wouldn't mind us making a move for Martin Petrov, but the two who really stand out for me are Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha. Two British youngsters both credited with positive, intellectual personalities .

Ireland has been limited to only 8 league appearances this season, but has still managed to score 2 goals, with a further three appearances to one goal in the cup. Named as one of the players of the season in 2008/09, his energy and forward vision combined with the versatility of playing in the centre or out wide would be very welcome in our midfield.

As for Onuoha, he's currently playing right back against Scunthorpe today and doing brilliantly. At 23, he's a youngster with a lot of Premier League experience and was an ever present in the England U21s up until the Euro championships last year. With Carr not getting any younger and Martin Taylor, Gio Espinoza and Krystian Pearce leaving our centre back positions light, Onuoha would be a perfect player to kill two of those birds with one stone.

Imagine a midfield and defence with the strength in depth and the British backbone of passion like this:

Ferguson, Bowyer, Michel, Gardner, McFadden, Larsson, Fahey + Ireland

Carr, Ridgewell, Dann, Johnson, Parnaby, Murphy, New LB + Onuoha

Would anyone else agree?

Yes, but I think that it is more likely that Man City would want to loan them out, especially Stephen Ireland.

No problem.... We'll sign Hart permanently so that we can take Ireland on loan!

I seriously think that if they go out and make big money moves for midfielders, then he'll not want to stick around only to warm the bench or grace reserve league matches.

I'd bet that Man City don't let any of the bigger reserve players go. I'd bet they'd keep them with Europe in mind and the squad size needed for league and cup success. Man City will be pushing on all fronts. The likes of Ireland will be involved and Peteov already has been so under Robbie.

Id think it would be a very possitive step in our clubs progression if we were to buy both these players in the summer :banner:

I wonder how much they'd want for Ireland?

Just because they can afford to let him go for a fiver doesn't mean they will and he will surely be a very popular target.

Would love him here regardless.

I would love us to buy Stephan Ireland fantastic player. But unfortunately I think the likes of Arsenal, Everton are in front of us.

Martin Petrov is a free agent in the summer, and also I'd like us to snap up Micah Richards.

Ireland has been injured which is why he hasnt been playing that often... cant see him being allowed to leave.

Onouha ive been banging on about signing for ages, since last January I think... he wasnt getting a look in last year... seems to be a bigger part of the set up now, but will still no doubt be behind Toure, Richards, Lescott, Kompany, Zabaleta

Is this thread a wind up ????

You have got to be having a laugh if any of you think Ireland will be even thought about sold. He is a superb player and it has already been stated he is an integral part of the core Man City squad,

Please no more dreamland posts - but then again we get them all year !!!!

Ireland to Blues ?? More chance of platting ****.

We'll see who they sign in the summer. If you read my post, which was not a wind up, then you'll see that it's all on the proviso that Man City splash bazillions of squid over the next six months.

One little problem .....other clubs would love these players and would bid for them also, Man Cit aint stupid and would want full market value for them you would get no players on the cheap with other prem clubs intrested, Ireland is one of their best players....no way would they sell him, and Hart will cost us 15 million if we want him at least

Your use of commas for unnecessary ellipses and lack of the ability to spell the word sensible makes me mad - but I wasn't going to say it cos it seemed a bit uncalled for.

Which is exactly what 'being mad' over thinking we could get Stephen Ireland is. There is a chance that he could become available with the amount of dosh splashing around at Man City. Stranger things have happened - who would've thought the press would be saying players like Milan Jovanovic were going to choose Blues over Liverpool?

It's not that far fetched for people to label the notion as 'silly', so calm down dear.

Talk about jumping on the bandwagon eh?

If I remember rightly, youve made up a few of these 'posts' you seem to hate? So hypocritical aswell then.

Ireland wouldnt get into any of the top teams IMO. Im not counting Liverpool as they're on a downward spiral.

Chelsea - No chance
United - Nope
Arsenal - Nope.

IF (and I admit it is a big if) we finish well in the league/do well in the cup, and he is made available by Man City... then we'll be in amongst a group who would be in the hunt to sign him. Whether he'd come or not is another question, but its not that stupid a suggestion.
