1956 - last Cup Final appearance - got there playing every round away from home - just like this year

KRO also became a Blues song for the first time on this Cup run - think it was one of the Scottish lads who sang it on the team bus on the way to the semi againnst Sunderland, and it stuck.

It was the great Alex Govan who started the song off. **thumbup

Let's hear it sung in the final at Wembley this year. :banner:

I hate the semis being at Wembley takes away the magic.

Absolutely right and I bought this topic up on Sky Sports

The FA Cup is 138 years ols and is full of interesting and romantic stories, luck, superstition and tradition

One of those main traditions was to always play both semi finals on neutral League grounds

OK, it reduces numbers of fans of both clubs attending the game but think of the travel and time it takes all of the Northern clubs just to get to London...and then they have to do it again if they reach the Final

There are four arenas that could cope easily with SF's and please the supporters as well as far as ticket allocation goes, Old Trafoord and Cardiff being the first two choices

Old Trafford - 76,000
Cardiff Millenium - 75,000
Arsenal Emirates - 63,000
St James Park - 52,000

The others listed would be

Anfield, Liverpool
Villa Park, Birmingham ........noticed I used the word Birmingham **thumbup
Elland Road, leeds
Stadium of Light, Sunderland
Eastlands, Manchester

The choice of arenas is a geographical and distance issue as well

Playing the SF's really does de-value the Final itself

I don't know about anyone else but I'm really excited that the semi's are at Wembley. I mean I've never been to Wembley ever and even tho I do agree that it takes a little bit of the magic at least it's a day out at Wembley. I mean how gutted would you be to be in the Semi's against Chelsea at Old Trafford? Lets just get their first then we can really look forward to it!

there will never be a better time to reach wembley than now, but just be a little bit cautious, as pompey will be well up for it also.

I've not been this excited about a quarter final since the last time we were there with most of the big teams out already - Watford, 1984.

I remember going with my dad and brother to the West Ham game in the fifth round and Blues playing them off the park. (cue WHU fans trying to tear down the scoreboard!) I was so convinced that was our year - 17 years old and cried like a baby when John Barnes took us to the cleaners in the quarters. First year I didn't watch the cup final, too gutted.

I've been following Blues too long to start planning my Wembley trip yet. Pompey are a much better side than their position suggests, and they could easily beat us if we play like we did against Forest and Derby.

Having said that, I've told the wife not to plan anything for April 10th-11th and May 15th!

KRO!!

can anyone else imagine Carsley and Gardner (bluenoses) singing and teaching the rest of the lads Keep Right On on the coach/plane/train down to pompey?

Na... Me neither.

Just my bleeding luck - the missus is due to give birth the same day as the semis!!

Anyone know a failsafe method for inducing delivery a week early?

Anyone know a failsafe method for inducing delivery a week early?

According to World Wildlife Fund scientist Holly Dublin, African elephants (Loxodanta africana)seek a particular species of tree, possibly to induce labor. Dublin followed a pregnant elephant for more than a year in East Africa, and observed that the elephant followed a strictly uniform diet and pattern of daily behavior until near the end of gestation. At that time, the elephant walked 17 miles in one day -many more than her usual three- and ate a tree of the Boraginaceae family from leaves to trunk! Four days later she gave birth to a healthy calf. Dublin found that Kenyan women brew tea from the leaves of this tree to induce labor.

That'll do the trick then.
